Acceptable Mileage on a 01

What is a acceptable mileage on a 01 fronty 4wd? I'm asking cause i'm looking around for a 4wd and I just want to kinda know how much is to much and how much the motor can handle. I've heard, but only heard, that nissan motors can last well over 100,000 miles. Now, I don't really want to buy one with 100,000 miles on it but if it comes down to it and its a good deal and everything I want then I would consider it.

Well an average of 15k a year yields about 90k for an 01. I'd try not to get anything over that mileage.

I know Im probably going to be of little help...

comes down to price i would guess. 100k doesnt seem like a huge amount of miles, though maybe a little above avaerage. But if it is subastantilally less than one with 85k and seems like a decently maintained vehicle it might be worth it. This day and age, even american trucks end up going pretty far past 100.

My 01 has 126k on it and it still runs great and the reason why is because of the maintenace done on it and who does it. ME. no one touches my truck so i know how it has been kept. I am the original owner on it. I keep an excel file of what was done, parts used, current milage. It realy depends if they have good records. Ask what kind of record keeping they have for it. I put in mine everything. Any adjustments, where i got unusual parts and the cost. Major projects include new trans, cluth, exhaust manifolds, catalytic convertor on driver side, driver side engine mount. Record keeping is what i look for. If they don't have something to track when everything like oil changes especially, is done then forget about it. Other than that 15k per year is average.

After all thats said and done, you run out and take pictures of the truck catching air.

But like what was posted, 15k a year, and maintenace is a big thing. However, 100k+ is still 100k+

There's no reason to think an engine can't last well above 100k, but the fact is it's going to need some overhauls at some point. New timing chain, might have some seal / compression issues after a while. But the other thing to consider is that's the life of the entire powertrain. So your tranny, gears, and clutch if you have one are all that age as well. Now the miles could have been put on gracefully, but still 100k is 100k. For a daily commuter I dunno how comfortable I'd feel about that, but then again my first car had 160K on it, so...

Keep in mind you're probably not going to find one with 40k on it but ya never know. If it were me I'd try to find one with ~75K or lower but that might be difficult and everything is relative right... So a truck with less miles will be more $$. Might try looking for an 02 - 04 with mediocre mileage if you have the pocket book for it
