6 speed manual abuse of 2013 frontier

I used my manual shift frontier to pull out a 18' boat and trailer that had been sitting in the same spot for over 10 years, it was part of the landscape. with it in 4 wheel drive I did pull it out but my clutch got very Hot. now it still shifts fine but that burning clutch smell has not gone away. I already know I could have found a better use for my truck. but I'm wondering if the smell will go away or do I need a new clutch ?

You can't un-smoke a clutch. You need to resurface the flywheel and replace the clutch set.

since i'm not a mechanic, does that mean I need a new clutch. Dealer says clutch functions fine.

I smoked the clutch on several occasions on my gen 1. it will smell for a few days and then go away. Unless it starts slipping, you don't need a new clutch.

^^This.

You probably glazed the surface of the flywheel, but unless you notice problems, leave it alone.

My old Miata would get to where the clutch would chatter on engagement. The fix was to slip the clutch to within an inch of its life. I'd have to do that every 6 months or so. It would stink for a while but was fine. I put over 80,000 miles on that clutch before I sold it. You are probably OK. If the clutch starts acting silly you'll know.

Just drive the truck and the smell will diminish. When you need a clutch it will become apparent, the rpms will increase and the truck won't increase speed.

Dittoes. My wife had pretty much used up the clutch on our '92 Mitsu at 180,000 Miles and I was able to deal with it through 260,000 when we finally sold the car.

My '06 Frontier has 95K Miles on it and so far the original clutch seems fine. I've never replaced a clutch on any vehicle I've driven exclusively and have always exceeded 200K Miles, with two vehicles over 250K Miles. I normally have a light foot. It'll be interesting to see if my frontier clutch lasts.
