4wd Light dimly lit when in 2wd

'04 XE Automatic

I just noticed last night the 4wd light on my dash cluster is VERY dimly lit when I am in 2wd. So dim that you can't see it during the day.

-When I shift into 4wd the light fully lights up, and goes back to dim when shifted back to 2wd.
-4wd is engaging and disengaging properly.
-The light is dim whether the parking lights are on or off.
-I haven't used 4wd in a few months.

The only cause that comes to mind is that my battery died a week or so ago, it may have been doing this since then. (now that I write this I might try disconnecting the battery to see what that does)
I searched around on this site and couldn't find any other posts with the same problem.

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks.

you have a second gen and he has an 04. my guess would be that the led that lights 2wd is just shining a little on the 4wd. it could of been knocked outta place if you hit a pothole or knocked something hard.

I have heard of this before, and no problems came of it.

That's what I thought at first. Just my luck one of my warning lights is on, but the lamp is hanging down into the wrong slot or something.

I pulled the terminal off the battery and double checked all the fuses and the light is still there.
I'll leave it for now, but it will probably bug me after a while and I'll end up pulling apart the whole dash cluster.
I'll post back here if anything comes of it.

Don't pull the dash. Check for water in the connector to the t-case.
