A simple question, dealer or DIY?
I am perfectly capable of doing it myself, my concern is that if anything ever goes wrong with the transmission I know the dealership will blame me and void any warranty. And to make things worse I don't trust the dealer. What would you do and what have others done?
I'm only wanting to do it because the manual states trans fluid swap at 30K, I'm at 33K.

I did it on my own because I really don't trust anyone as far as I can throw them. If anything, keep the receipts and solid maintenance logs (I work on aircraft so documenting maint. is old hat) and I don't think you'll have too much issue down the road. BTW, if you do it on your own, make sure you get the right fluid (Matic S) from the dealer, pricey but no worries down the road. Also measure what you pull out of the tranny and cooler and replace it with the respective amount. I pulled 6 out of the 10 quarts that are in there. While you are under the truck, change the differential fluids as well, it's also on the 30k and it needs it.

Well, wanted to thank you guys again (and all of clubfrontier), I went out and grabbed 12qts of Matic S. Did a drain and fill, then pulled the lines from the radiator to see which one was the sending line and flushed and filled twice. As you can see in my photo the original fluid was pretty dark. Also when taking my preliminary measurement before draining anything the fluid level appeared to be a bit low...

may want to check your antifreeze and make sure your trans and antifreeze isnt mixing. could be the reason its a little low. have you looked into doing the bypass or is it done already?

I wouldn't worry about the fluid, you would have the strawberry milkshake of death if you had issues. The fluid color is fine, mine was dark too, you'd be dark after 30k miles of hauling 5000 pounds around.
