I have an 05 SE Crew Cab, but it's manual, 2wd, so I get about 22-24 hwy at about 68 mph, and between 17and 18.5 city shifting at no more than 2200rpm, thank you torque!

I do the same thing and get 19-20 mpg city on average and 23-24 highway.

Oh, the numbers i go were from edmunds.com

I actually paid the what edmunds recommended me paying at the dealership for my truck...22,500 invoice. I'm pretty much relieved now that i know this...this whole time i thought they ripped me off but 22,500 seems right with the tow package, truck value package, and the exact make and model...phew!! But i traded in my 24,500 car with 5,000 miles on it for 19,500

Hard to tell on the price, I believe that better deals can be had now on the V6's than the I4. Everyone is looking at mileage at the present time. When I got my truck, I just didn't feel the I4 had the power I wanted, and there really wasn't that much difference in MPG.

I feel for you on the lay off after all those years of service, it is a hard pill to swallow taking a much lower paying job. Everyone has to face economic facts and do what they have to do. Good luck in finding what you want (need) in a truck. Do what is best for you and your family and forget the rest.

Well, I traded the Titan and ended up with an 07 Crew Cab v6 Auto. Just too good of a deal to pass up. Truck had been a lease vehicle and only had 7000 miles. has everything on it for an SE including the bed extender and utilitrack, power everything. Plus it was a certified vehicle and I got the 84mo/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Got a good trade on my Titan and lowered my monthly payments by almost $100.00 dollars. I really like the truck, very quiet and solid. I think I will be very happy with it.

Go to edmonds.com and look up invoice on that particular truck with whatever options it wears. Once you have invoice, subtract the current rebate. THAT price is a decient deal. ( You keep Rebate!) $200-$500 under that price, is a VG deal. THose are the #'s you should be talking with/withoput a trade jsut to keep everything clear. Also, be sure to get details on who gets rebates, document charges , etc BEFORE closing the deal.

FWIW & IMHO I wouldn't suggest anybody to swap a new vehicle to save a few $ in gas but per your description, it should work well for you IF you can get the right deal.

I just saw the highest I've seen it in Mississippi so far (personally): $3.68 and $4.24 for diesel. Gotta feel for the 18 wheeler drivers out there. Yikes! Glad I carpool!
