Ok Zoom, before you get too upset about my post, just give me a second. I have read a couple things and am not quite sure what is correct. When it comes not metric sizing and the aspect ratio, if I have the same width and aspect ratio of tire, will I always have the same total outer diameter of tire, or is it dependent on the rim size also? For instance, is a 285/75/16 going to have the same total diameter as a 285/75/17 or even 18? I feel like I have read people saying it both ways and am wondering if anyone knows for sure which is correct. Thanks for any information.

The aspect ratio is tire width vs sidewall height. If you increase the wheel size, and aspect ratio is the same, then the result is a taller tire. So, using your example, a 285/75r17 would be 1" taller than a 285/75r16.

Thank you, that is what I thought but wasn't sure.
In general, for every one inch you go up in wheel size, you want to go down about 5% in aspect ratio to maintain the same overall diameter.

it is all in millimeters with the rim in inches.
E.g., 285-75-16 is
285/25.4 inches wide
x
285*.75/25.4 sidewall height X 2 sidewalls + 16" rim = total tire height
