Im getting a ReadyLift 2.5/1.5 spacer lift soon and wanting to put 285/75 16 tires on. Will these fit on stock steel rims? I have a 2014 S 4x4. I believe the wheels are 7" wide. Would the narrow width of the rim be any concern for this size tire? Looking at BFG AT KO2s if that matters/helps.
YES! The Alloy wheels that come on other models are also 7"s wide. I run 285's and they fit on my X with only the melt mod. You will need to do this mod to keep the tires from rubbing on the inner fender liner. If you have mud flaps, the fronts will need to come off.
thanks BCBrian! I was hoping that the narrow rim wouldn't make the tires too spongy or handle too poorly since they are wider. I've read about the melt/fender mods and all of my mud flaps are already off, as is the front air dam
My 285/75/16s initially went on the stock rims with no issues. When I got around to buying new rims, though, it was recommended to me to get slightly wider ones to improve tread wear.
True. 8" wide rims would be perfect for 285's but if you run them at 35 or 36 lbs on 7" rims you can still get good wear. I know folks that have made it to over 50000 miles with 285's on stock wheels.
I looked at the Level 8 MK6 wheels but with their offset and width, cutting of the fenders would be needed and I didn't want to do that. Besides, I knew I was going to be damaging the wheels off road and tearing up costly aftermarket wheels just did not make sense to me.
Going back to 2010 & near as I can tell, only 4-cyl KCs in lower trim levels come w/ 15" rims. Upper trim level 4-cyl KCs come w/ 16" wheels.
Therefore & since 2010, all 6-cyl Frontiers come with at least 16" rims.
