Hello from SC

I'm new to the Nissan family, having been a Toyota person for a long time. I needed to replace my old 92 Toyota pickup and have been trying different manufacturers. I tried a Dodge and hated that experience. Now I'm trying the Frontier. I bought a new 07 Frontier. So far I'm neutral in my opinion.
Style and performance are very good. But I was unaware of the CLANKING ABS. It's very annoying and the service department states that it is normal and will not do anything about. Does anyone else have a clanking truck? After starting your truck, drive off slowly, when you reach 12 to 15 mph, listen for the ABS to do a self-test. Mine clanks fairly loud. Is there a way to disable the self-test? It's embarassing to have people look, because it clanks. I hope to keep the truck, but need some relief.

I guess that's what mine is doing too, it's not really that loud to me so it doesn't bother me. I thought it was the AC compressor clutch (because here we always have it on)There are other rattles that seem to creep out, like the popping struts and the rattling passenger seat back on the CC.Overall I really like my Frontier. I too am an old Toyota guy, having worked for a Dealer for a long time.Welcome to Club Frontier pal.

Welcome!

Wish I had some advice about your clank but I have an older Frontier. Good luck though; hope you decide it's worth it. It does sound like it's overly loud if people stop and look at your truck when it happens, though...

That was fun. Who wants to do it again?

Welcome aboard! I'm a picky owner, but for heaven's sake the one-time ABS clank something that has never troubled me for an instant. Maybe you can trade back into your '92 Toyota before it's too late. <g> I've not read a post before where an owner is complaining over a system that is working properly, with one exception -- wait until you learn that the A/C compressor stays on after you turn the Defrost off. You'll want to sell your Frontier the very next day, so act now. <g>

Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe I can get used to the clank. Like I said the truck styling and performance are very good. Hope it lasts.
