I have a 2005 Frontier Crew Cab, 6-cyl, 4.0 and I am only getting 200-miles a tank in highway traffic. I have changed the trany 4-times with synthetic every time, oil is always perfect, and I keep everything very clean(mech and appearance) What am I missing. 103,000 miles on it. Will changing my plugs help?? I know I have to change my belt, tentioner and fan clutch.
But you could always do the normal stuff, check tire pressure, clean/change the air filter, clean the MAF, clean the TB, check the VAC lines, change the diff fluid, check the alignment, ect..

How many gallons is the truck taking when it says empty? I know some of the earlier 2nd gens had a problem with the fuel sending unit. I think there was even a recall or service bulletin on it?

Thank you all!! I do watch the gauge and on fill ups. It does take almost 19-gal. at empty and the dealership has changed the fuel senser in the tank twice under recall. I am hoping that it is my fan clutch because the dealer said my fan does not shut off and the truck sounds like I am riding on spike treads. Plugs next and I hop I get at least 50-miles a tank better back.
Sorry Guys I am new at this but what is; plugs 105K IAW the SM and clean the MAF, clean the TB ?
Thanks!

I think MESOGLEA is saying to change plugs at 105,000 miles In Accordance With the Service Manual.
And I was saying to clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Its easy and you can buy MAF sensor cleaner at the auto parts store. And cleaning the throttle body, but that can cause some problems on these trucks. So if you don't feel comfortable with fixing any minor problems resulting from cleaning the TB, then don't worry about cleaning it.
If your clutch fan isn't disengaging, than that could cause mileage loss. The fan will be spinning more than needed durring normal driving and probably faster than needed at highwy speeds. Clutch fans can take up to 35ish HP to run when fully engaged.

I think the Fan Clutch and Pugs will do it. It seems like the truck is also lagging power.
I have only been on this forum for only a day and have learned a great deal. I want to keep my truck for a long time and looks is not the only thing. I will do what I can to fix it and take everybody's advise.
