Car guy now a Truck guy

Hurrican Sandy took my 2011 VW Jetta off my hands 2 years early (lease) So I now have a 2012 Black Nissan Frontier SV V6 Automatic 4x4. (100% stock) It's great, is there any way to improve the mpg's on the highway. I'm avg'ing 17mpgs with a high of 18.5mpg's. The truck has only 1500 miles on it so far...

Welcome from south Jersey! If want to improve the fuel economy, get rid of it.

South Jersey? That's where I got my truck from. Causeway Nissan on Rt.72. I've heard of guys on here getting 21-23mpgs with their Frontiers. I thought maybe I could squeeze out 19-20mpgs, ha I guess not, I'm pretty content with what I'm getting now...

Driving habits is most of your mpgs. You'd be spending more than you'd save to increase it significantly.

It is not a mileage champ but it can take you a lot of places the Jetta couldn't. I try to take it easy on the pedal unless I think I really need (or want) to enjoy the power it can deliver. Enjoy your new truck. BTW gas keeps going down-just sayin.

Yea I bought it mainly for driving on the beach in LBI. Maybe trying some other off roading etc.

Welcome aboard. I'm about 600 miles in with the same truck, 'cept it's white, and my highway (improved secondary road with lots of intersections, so stop and go some) was 20.3 in US gallons. I imagine that a freeway constant speed cruise would bring it up some, but like they say not made to be a mileage champ.
I try to look as far ahead as possible and anticipate what traffic's doing. Regular here in the Great White North is about $4.08/US gallon so it's not low enough yet for me.
