None, because the K&N is the only one that replaces the airway with one that is larger than the stock system. If you look at the K&N versus even the Nismo one, the K&N has a much larger tube running from the filter to the throttle body. The K&N 77 series, the one that is smog legal in California, has about the same size tube as the Nismo CAI. Mine has about twice to three times the volume of air in the tube, allowing more air into the throttle body after being filtered.

Even the K&N site says the 63 series gives more HP than the 77 series. At altitude, I notice no difference in power or response.

Outlndr, thanks for the details. Sounds like the K&N is a safe bet. Have you had any problems with the MAS sensor malfunctioning? I've heard that too much airflow can mess up the sensory electircal system.

Also, what do you think about this new injen model for the frontier? worth the price for the HP increase or not?

Thanks

So far, no problems with anything except my foot pressing too hard on the accelerator.

I think the things about the MAS are just internet myths perpetuated by dealer lackeys.

The Injen doesn't look any different than the others, except the air box looks very restrictive. Are those little holes on top the ONLY air inlets???

Thanks for the feedback again. Good to hear you have no problems with the K&N, it's starting to make its way to the top of my list.

Yeah, I had the same question about the injen to. I think it probably has an opening on the far side, sort of like the volant, except with additional vents above.

Well, for those that are interested:

I think I've decided on this modification set up:

Gibson Cat Back SS Side Swept Exhaust
&
63 Series K&N Air Intake

I've decided on the K&N because it's a proven company with over 20 years experience and all the customer reviews are say the HP increase is dramatic. The unit is also very affordable (235). And to top it all off, my Nissan dealership says they only sanction Nismo or K&N modifications. Looks like all the Ducks are lining up in a row. It's hard to pass up on the new Injen, sure looks cool, but at this point, not enough about it is known or proven.

Thanks for everyone's help in my research and decision-making process. I'll try to get some pics when everything is said and done.

I also am getting the Gibson exhaust soon. As for the intake k&n is pretty good and should bring some power.
