1st time nissan owner

wazzza! :P

Just bought an 05 frontier SE crew cab 4x4. Have only had it 2 days and have already fallen in love. Drove the Taco and Canyon, both nice trucks but the frontier sold me on a more classy look.

Paid $23,000 with SE power package, mats, utili-track, and tow package. Not bad for a sticker of $27,000.

Only thing that has dissapointed me is that the power package this truck had on it did not come with keyless entry. I talked to the nissan parts department today and they said they could not install and that I would have to go aftermarket. Dosen't make much scence to me. After hauling family around a couple times keyless entry is a MUST!

Other than that, I'm giddy as all get out.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you love your truck. Anyway I've seen around that all you need to do is buy the key fobs and you'll be in business as far as the keyless entry goes. I don't know if it's on this forum, but i do know it's around other forums. goodluck.
you probably could pick up a key fob for cheap on eBay, but the dealer or other on-line nissan parts companies have them. again good luck.

Thanks man. I tryed the key iin/out the ignition 6 times thing with no luck. If I am correct, you are supposed to get in truck, lock doors, insert key in ignition 6 times within 10 secs and if the hazard lights blink, then you are set up for keyless entry. Tryed that about a dozen times with no luck.

Best Buy has a keyless entry for $120 installled. I just hope none of my warranty is voided because of this aftermarket part.

Peace and Chicken Grease

That sounds like most of the procedure from when I was a service advisor, I'll check and get back with you. I can't remember the entire procedure as it's been a couple of years since doing it.

Hmm, I got an 05 SE CC 4x4 with the power package as well, which came with the remote keyless fob. Kind of odd that yours wasn't set up. What month year was it manufactured?

Not to sound sarchastic, but have you spoken with the dealer that sold you the truck? They should take care of that at no cost to you if it does have the feature and it is just disabled. It takes literally 2 minutes to go through the procedure for activation if done correctly.

I remember now, after you get the hazards to flash, then turn the ignition to the "on" position, but DO NOT START the vehicle. Then you have to press and hold any button on the Fob until you hear a chirp or the hazzards flash once. For multiple fobs, just keep this programming sequence active and then unlock and relock the doors for each additional fob you want to program. For each additional fob, just hold down a button on it and you will again get the flashing of the lights or a chirp of the horn/beeper.

Hope this helps before you spend $ 120.00 you don't need to.

Outline:

1. Get in vehicle (With fobs to program).

2. Lock doors manually.

3. Insert key 6 times until hazards flash.

4. Turn ignition to "on" position. (Be careful not to start vehicle.)

5. Hold down any button on fob until chirp/lights flash once.

6. If additional fobs need to be programmed, just unlock and relock door for EACH additional fob before following step 5 for the next one.

7. After programming is completed, turn ignition back to the off position and test each keyfob to make sure the programming was successful.

Hope this helps!!

I found this on the Nissan site in the SE CC configurator section. Have another chat w/ the dealer.

http://www.nissanusa.com/global/glossary/ConfigGlossaryPopup/0,,P02|frc|,00.html

SE Power Package
• Power windows
• Power door locks
• Power outside mirrors
• Remote keyless entry locks
• Cruise control
• Vehicle security system (Crew Cab only)

Thanks for all the help and concern. I looked at the window sticker again and it did not have keyless entry as part of the package. But, on the online ad on there website it did say keyless entry.

The SE power package on the frontier I bought cost $900. I noticed on another frontier that the SE power package it had was $1100 and had the keyless on it. So, I don't think I got screwed, I guess I did not research or look into it well enough to figure this out. I just thouht the SE power package came with all the same equipment.

I hope this situation helps anyone else out there that assumes each SE power package is the same. I'll be the dummy for ya all 8O
