I drive to work, pull a light camper trailer 5-10 times a year for short 200 mile round trips.
No offroading, but I like the all terrain look and beefy stance of the truck.

I want to beef up the tire just a bit to give the truck a bit more lift and a bit beefier look (no new rims yet) with the leveling kit on it now..
Would a 265/75/16 be the tire to go with? Or is there a tire that is a little wider that would be a good fit too? I dont want to go huge/mud/traction tire, i would like to keep getting 17-21 mpg like I get with my current setup.

Let me know what you think.
thanks for the info
Brett
The 265/75-16 would be a great choice. Here's what I would recommend for a good all around tire.
Details:Nitto Dura Grappler

For a 33x11.50-16, it is recommended by the manufactures to run that size on a 8" wide wheel.

Thanks for the info. I am also confused about the tire measurements. I see some tires with the above type of measurement, then i see some with 33/10.5/16... seems to be a metric/inches thing...

What tire would be the same as the 265/75/16 in inches?? and what would fit my nissan/06/cc/2wd/stock rim...
thanks again
Brett

Tire Size Calculator

This link will help you a lot. You can put in any size and compare it to stock. It will tell you how much the change will effect your speedo as well.

Hey DTD, bought my wheels and tires from you guys( MB Predators and Nitto Mud Grapplers and 4 TPMS's). Have had the tires and wheels on my truck for little over a week now and this weekend my TPMS light came on and tire pressures are good. Light won't go out. What do I do?

If you bought new sensors you will need to have the new sensor ID's entered into your truck's computer, any retailer with a TPMS scanner will be able to do this. If you have already done this, double check the air pressure, temperature and elevation can effect your pressure enough to kick off the light. Resetting the pressure should turn the light off.

help

I need a 285/75/16 set that is aggressive but not to rough riding. I dont want to spend an arm and a leg either. Gas is bad enough. I have always run Pro-Comp on my trucks but the MT gives you a bumpy feel after about 5000 miles on them. They are a great tire but I want something different for this truck. Its my daily driver and I want the ride to be smooth but I still want an aggressive tire for when I do decide to lock her in and roll through the trails.

Here's what i have used in the past

Maxxis buckshot ....ok
Pro-Comp Mud Terrain ...great offroad but a little bumpy on road
Pro-Comp X-terrain ....smmoth at first but rough with wear. great offroad
BFG MT ....great on my light weight 72 Bronco. Too expensive
Goodyear Wrangler MT ...hate em
Mud King by BFG ...not bad for the price

Awesome question. Thank you for the details.

A few things. The 285.75.16 size is full of 8 and 10 ply tires. They are going to run a little rougher than your stock tires no matter what tire you choose. To keep an even wear on 8 and 10 ply tires you generally have to put more pressure in them.

As for some suggestions, have you looked at the Nitto Terra Grapplers?

For a daily driver the Terra Grappler is very smooth. They also look really nice and will take you offroad when you need them too. THey won't hurt your pocket too much and you should be able to get some pretty good miles out of them if you rotate and maintain the correct pressure on them. link: Terra Grappler.

The BFG TA KO would also be a great tire for you but they are a little more money. They are very smooth on the road, you will get a lot of miles out of them and they are great off road as long as you don't spend a lot of time in the mud. link: BFG TA KO
