I'm on my lunch break (or what ever you want to call it at 4:00 AM) and did quick search for short shifters and came up with nothing. I've searched a little on google in the past and did not come up with anything either. Does anyone make a short shifter for our trucks?
In my time on CF here I have never heard of one.
I'm sure this would have come up if such an animal existed.
Let's face it, we have trucks so I don't think the demand is there if you know what I mean.
I think my 6 speed works great as is honestly, I mean for a truck and all.
We're not driving sports cars here, right?
The clutch however, that's another subject all together.
I do like the shifter, just would like it to the be a litter shorter of a throw. I had one on my Jeep TJ years ago and loved it. I'm really surprised there is not one out on the market. With people using these truck for off road and dessert use, I can see where a short shifter would be useful.
You can try a shorter shift knob. A Voodoo knob or similar is about an inch shorter than the stock knob and also much heavier. Definitely improves shift feel.
I think you're going to be pleasently surprised in the near future... Someone with great knowledge and a very loyal customer base on this forum is working on something.
I know a few guys that make them for the Z. I am sure they could make one for you. All you would need is to give them a stick to modifie. PM me if you want me to put you in contact them for you.
I can't remember the exact cost for the Z short shifter mod, but it was not over $100.
I have yet to mess with the OEM lever. I would like the knob to be back and left about 3 inches over a straight shaft short throw. But the knob move + short throw would be even better.....
Anyone else have their trans jump out of second gear off road while the clutch is in?
I think that is from the my 3/4 pound shift knob.
I was hoping Greg was going to fab a sweet new shift lever along too. Perhaps with PRG engraved on the side... Hint hint. Going to buy it regardless as soon as it's available.
