My Sas Thread

Well i got tired of thread jacking on mudpunishers thread so ill start a new one. well i have finally decided to go through with the sas project. I will post up pics this weekend of the axle and what not. I will be getting ball joints and and some other hardware this weekend. I plan on doing a set of 6in toyota lift springs up front with a track bar sua and 5.14s in the diffs, i only plan on running 35s for now so it will save me money not to have to buy the high steer conversion parts. The only thing i'm not sure about is the diff itself. I am really trying to do this as cheap as possible. I was thinking about just doing a full spool for now and when i can afford an arb then i will swap it out. I plan on using aftermarket selectable hubs so driving around won't be a problem only when i have them locked. What do you guys think about putting the spool in temporarily, or should i just buy an open carrier that will accept the 5.14s

well i was talking to one of the guys here at work today and decided that i should just buy an open diff that will take a 5.14 gear, there only 69 dollars. THe problem is i don't want to spend 3 or 4 hundred dollars on a locker now if i plan to replace it with an arb anyway since i already have the arb installed in the rear. I'm will still have an extremely capable truck with the sas and the rear locked. i want to save money so i can afford to buy the t case i want and get all the custom shafts built for the divorced setup.

Well i got the axle completely torn down today. Tomorrow i should have everything sandblasted except the housing which i sent over to a friends shop to have blasted (our blast cabinet isn't big enough) and i should be able to get the new ball joints pressed in, and maybe even get started painting all the pieces. I'm getting so stoked about the build. I will have pics up tomorrow after all the balsting is done.

I didn't get as far as i had hoped today. I got the old bj's pressed out and the u joints out of the axles. Hopefully i will have the housing back tomorrow so i can put the knuckles on the housing... then i'm just waiting to get paid so i can get all my wheelbearings hubs rotors etc... Hoping to have the axle ready to roll mid november then use christmas money to buy misc. install parts and then install it befor the end of january. We will see... then all i have to do is make it 4x4.
