My sas

Well I figured I'd start a thread on my SAS.

This will not be a fast progressing project though because moneys a *****

I decided to go with leaf springs mainly because of money and simplicity. I can also have a buddy of mine fab most of the parts I need for half the price it would cost to get them online or at a shop/store.There are also less breaking points in a leaf spring set up then a four or five link set up.

I'm going with a dana 30 up front and a gm ten bolt with a lockright locker in the rear with 4.10 gears in both axles. I would prefer a dana 44 up front but these two match up great and are in perfect condition and I am picking them up from the same guy for an amazing price hopefully later this weak. At least that is the plan for now

here are pics of each axle

don't be fooled by the front axle looking like it's on the passengers side, it's just rolled over the other way lol

rear

front

that's it for now, I'll be updating the thread as things slowly progress.

feel free to ask questions/leave comments!

It does look like the pumpkin is on the pass.

I know

the axles came off of an s-10 that had been sas'd so I know it's a drivers side pumpkin

for what I do it's strong enough lol, the front will be open or I might put a lsd in it or posi I don't want to run the risk of snapping an axle with it locked or spooled

as for tires I'm going to keep my 31" swampers for now until I can afford some 33's or 35's depending on how high I go

i wouldnt run a 35 on a stock 30, that me, if you do a super 30 to it thats another story but by the time you spend the money you could have gone out and gotten a 44. Dont lock it and i'd leave the front open and just do a cable locker in the rear to save some $$ and so you could still turn the truck and use it on the street

the 30 really is just to get everything set up for now until I can get the funds to go to a bigger axle, the 10 bolt already has a lock-right in it which I'm excited for, will be a lot better than the stock lsd I have on the nissan axle

Ummmm..
Are you sure you know what you're getting into?
4.10's are ridiculous considering our trucks come with 4.63's or 4.90's stock.
A dana 30 will grenade with even a 33 if you spin them.

It would probably be cheaper in the long run if you just saved up extra money and did it right the first time.
If you swap these out you'll be paying for next axles, and gear set ups, and nothing off these axles is reuseable.

Best of luck bro.
