This is true but once you factor in our transmission gears, your resultant gear ratio is similar to a 410 on the nismo and possibly lower (456ish or so) if it is a manual 6 speed as in your case. The Titans do the same thing. One of the guys traded in his for a ford with 410s and reported that on the highway, at 75mph, both the titan and ford were at the same rpm. Nissan geared not only the rear end but also the transmission for its overall gear ratio unlike other manufacturers.

We did this in another thread already guys, seriously. The final ratio is the final ratio. it may feel like its lower because of transmission gearing....but LETS NOT confuse people and run around and claim we have 4:10s. We dont. Most people have 3.35's and some have 3.69's. There's also 3.54, 3.13, and 2.93.

I agree. This thread is not about what gears we have and that has already been discussed before so if other would like to read it, the use the search function and you will find it.

I still believe that if he is going to do this axle swap, he really needs to do his own research so that he fully knows what it takes and that it is not a simple 20 min job. To do it right, it takes research and part hunting. A lot of this research can be done here on CF and on other sites too. I think there are some 4x4 sites that will probably have some nice data . I am sure once this is done, the swap will be a piece of cake. But if this step is skipped, the resultant product may not be what was expected and it may take forever to order/find all the correct parts.

Do not quote me on these numbers becasue I know they are not exact but if you go to the nissanusa.com website and look under specifications, you can get a more accurate number. Or if you are able to get a Factory Service Manual, you can look it up there.

You can get a new m226 from the dealer but they are going to kill you on the price. You can get a used one from a junkyard but just be careful that it is a 06+ and not an 05, there was speculation that there were only 2 spider gears used in the 05 and they then changed the design to a 4 spider gear setup or something like that.

Honestly at this point, you might want to hold off on this project until you can do enough research to be fully informed. I know you just got your truck and you want to do everything to it but you need to do research. Research is the key and when you just post something without proving you did the research, you are going to get flammed. Just do yourself a favor and use the search function and read as many threads that you can and try to understand what others have done. Then call around and search for the parts. Then make a post on what you have discovered and what your plans are in detail, ie. parts, time, etc. This will probably get you a lot more positive information and you will have a lot better undersanding on what is actually needed to perform this mod.

Good luck on the research and let us know what you find out.
well ive had my truck for a while now and i just ddid the cst 4" on it and im looking for something that will get my power to the road better. and i dont want to get suck off-road spinning one tire. and thanks for the advice i wasnt going to just jump in and hope for the best, i dont have that kind of money to burn. i have a few other plans first but i just need to know what i can and cant do so when im ready for the swap i know what im getting in to.

really. i thought that lockers would be better than LSD for all off-road apps.

on the topic of powertrain swaps has anyone tried a 5.6 swap? meaning putting a titan 5.6 in a 2nd gen frontier. i know that the frontier is in essence a smaller titan so im thinking with a little thinking and a lot of work it might fit.

I think there have been a couple people who want to do it, I think it's been done on an X (and we know it works on a pathfinder since they are offered with the 5.6 from the factory now.

ARB doesnt have a locker available for the c200 , i tore mine apart to give them the info but said they had nothing available , they wanted me to ship my carrier to them but im gonna pass on that

as far as swapping a nismo or titan axle in its very simple , took me 3hrs by myself , just be aware u may need new speed sensors if the axle u buy doesnt come with them cause an se will not match up

well since the pathfinder and frontier, from what i can find, are essentially the same vehicle, theoretically the 5.6 will fit. however im guessing that im missing something because nissan didnt put the 5.6 in the 08 frontiers. i would love to try it but i have a feeling i will cost a pretty penny and some fabricating.
