If you have an auto and 2wd, you can go to hoopers in Sun City CA, near Greg's place and get 3.73 put in you rear end tomarrow. All the Titan pre runners with 37's are running that gear ratio with the tru trac and are very happy with them. Along with an auto tranny it makes out to be a 4.56 and should be plenty of gearing for are v6's with 35's. I'm running 35's with my auto nismo right now and other then the 13.5 mpgs, I have no complants. Give a call there and ask for Anthony and he'll fill you in.

ok, I've seen something like this before but I dont understand it. how does 3.73's with an auto tranny give you the equivalent of 4.56's?

The auto tranny with the 3.36 in the Nismo, titan offroad, or titan big tow, is the equivalent to a 4.10 gear ratio. Nissan gears down the auto tranny so you can use a bigger ring and pinion (lower rear end ratio). It's actually very smart because the smaller gear (bigger ratio) is much weeker because of less teeth. So you basical add around .74 or so to the gear ratio in the rear end of your nissan, and thats the way your truck drives compared to a Silverado with the same in it's rear end. I have know idea about the 6 speed tranny, but I looked at a rear end out of one yesterday and it clearly says 3.54. Witch any one with a 2wd auto se of le and put that rear end in your truck would have some where aroung a 4.30 gear ratio and would be lovin it with 33's, or a hell of a hole shot for drag racing and street tires.

ok, but wouldnt that be reflected in the gear ratios listed for the tranny? I mean I've looked at the numbers for auto and manual and they're comparable (manual has a lower 1st gear and a higher o/d but it also has an extra gear). basically, what I'm saying is that the 1:1 ratio in the tranny would still be a 1:1 ratio so in 4th in the auto, it should be the same as 5th in the manual which I would think is the same as the 1:1 in any other vehicle just looking at input speed vs output speed.

I guess I'd need to look at tranny ratios for a gm or ford to see what the difference is.

If your trying to figure this out, you need to talk to someone that knows these trucks. There is not a bit of info from nissan that I would belive, but if you go to nissan usa and look up the titan specs it clearly says that 3.36 is equivelent to 4.10. Just think about it, if the titan true final drive was 3.36 there is no way they could smoke 35's. The therory of gearing down the tranny has been used by BMW for years, and is also used in some offroad racing aplications.
