If it was VAC disconnect it would have a pump on the diff cover/housing.. If would not have one if it was NON VAC disconnect.. No particular year had them soley.. They made some VAC and some not in the mid to late 80s.. All 80s to 90 waggy axles are DSD(driverside drop). You will lose some of your steering radius as well as it will be about 2-3 inches narrower in the front.. Lemme know if you have any more questions about axles or swaps and I can help you out..

Do you have any particular off road shop helping you? I know Ted from Aggressive really well and He SAS'd a Pathfinder a few years ago. His shop is off 210 and he would be a great wealth of knowlege for a custom set up. He also has several Yota's on the side and some extra parts, I'm sure.

Where is your shop? Do you still work at Tires Plus? I figured you would do most of the work but I didn't know if you were getting help from one of the big off road guys in town.

Not sure if that is his or if he still owns it. He has a old '86-ish yota on 44 Claws and a Beast of a T100 w/ 2.5ton Military Axles. He is down 210 in those warehouse garages past Crackers BBQ on the right.

http://www.aggressiveoffroad.com/ for address and directions.

Best of luck and keep Me (and Us) posted!!

yeah i know who your talking about, i still cant belive that truck is on stock running gear and motor. our shop is my back yard. we jusy put in a 9 foot gate so we can get trucks back there and everything. no limit 4x4 is a club a few of my friends and i started years ago, its gotten pretty big now. weve got about 150 members from here to NC. if you need parts hit us up, weve got a commercial account at advace so we get everything cheap. no more tires plus, i lost my liscence so i couldnt work there anymore, but in 2 weeks ill prob be there again. thanks man!

i just checked out their site, i didnt realize how much they did with nissan and toyota, i figured it was like all the other shops here that are detroit based mainly

Yep, Ted does a lot of the foreign stuff. He did mine, NC2JAX and 07DRKBLU's trucks and may do my Body or Spindles if I descide to go that route.

BTW Ted said he re-geared real low that Yota w/ 44's and it has 2 transfer cases to go real low!!

leafs will be easier and simple-r to do, however, stay away from waggy front leafs, they don't flex worth crap, might wanna research a nice set of 2-4" lift spring packs for YJ wranglers (86-95 i think). they will flex 10x more. you will need good shocks for this setup...

im going to purchase this front leaf hanger kit from All Pro off road(http://allprooffroad.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=41&Itemid=81).
i found a D44 wagoneer axle off of an 88. i am told this axle is not good to use due to a vacuum actuated disconnect. i have looked to see what it is and its function but have found nothing. if anyone knows feel free to tell me.

another concern i have is steering. i will prob end up using the steering off of a donor vehicle but am not to familiar with how they work. i will post more info about that once i get that far however. thanks for all the help(especially HKYStormFront!), im defintely going to need it shortly.
Do yourself a favor and dont do the leaf up front. Do a Coil-Over its like 500 more and its well worth waiting if you have to wait a few weeks.

You can order all of the parts from www.bentup.com or www.allprooffroad.com

I SAS'd my 4Runner and after said and done, I should of spent the extra 500 bucks for Coil-Overs..

I hope this helps!
