Anyone know a lot about driveshaft's?

I recently acquired an m226 that I will be putting a TruTrac and more than likely the 3:73 gears in....but there is one little issue. The m226 and 4wd trucks have a 4 bolt where my c200 has a 6 bolt. Sorry, old news for a bunch of you I know, but I figured this was the best place to start.

Other than a custom drive shaft anybody have any ideas? I was going to wait to have the trutrac and gears put in than figure out the driveshaft issue afterwards, but if it is less difficult than I think it will be then I will just go ahead and get it all done sooner than later. If a custom driveshaft is pretty much the only option, anyone have any ideas what I should expect to pay for one?

Thanks for any input you guys may have.

This is my same issue except for the 3:73 gears.

I did some research and I think a driveshaft from a 4x2 Nismo may work but a custom one might be the way to go. Hopefully others will have some nice input on this.

I am also still not clear on this. Because I think we decided that 4wd was 6 bolt, and 2wd was 4 bolt correct? So the M226 on the 4x2 NISMO is going to be.......4 bolt?

But wouldnt nissan just want to stick a 6 bolt under there to save money?

Or is a M226/C200 thing. Sorry, we attempted to clear it up in another thread, but we never did to my satisfaction. We may have to take a poll LOL.

It's the other way around. 4wd = 4 bolt; that's why Aaron had no trouble just bolting his right up. My axle is out of a manual 2wd, non-nismo and has a 4 bolt. The axle Aaron got was out of a 4wd Nismo. But being he was 4wd he had the shorter drive shaft already.

Dammit, why couldn't they have just used the same stupid bolt pattern for both drive shafts?

Any Good Driveline Builder Can Cut Out Your Yoke And Weld In The Correct Yoke As Long As Your Shaft Is Long Enough After The Cut And Same Diameter. If Not A Custom Shaft Is Not Much. I Paid $450 To Build A Custom Chromoly 2 Piece Shaft With Hipo Joints To Handle 800hp In My Suburban After I Grenaded The Factory One.

Thanks, I was hoping you would chime in! I appreciate it. I was really hoping that I could just find someone with a destroyed shaft that wouldn't mind giving me the yoke to have welded on. I just didn't know if that was ok to do structurally wise. But if you had a beefy axle like that built for that, than I am thinking mine should be quite a bit cheaper for custom.

So, if you were in my shoes, would you just have a custom shaft built?

I've bought 3 custom driveshafts for my toyota, first one was a slip yoke custom with OX joints that costs over $600......snapped that one on the rubicon, next two were from marlin crawler and they were around $300 each. I only go to marlin for yota parts .....they won't help you with the nissan, but at least you have a price range to look at. You should be able to find a speed shop or 4x4 shop in your town that makes customs , as long as it's welded on a lathe and balanced and ofcourse the correct length, yoke, ujoints, etc.. it'll work !

Only if your set up has more down travel then the stock shaft can handle.

save yourself the headache and get a custom shaft made. especially if its a two peice. you can get it done, balanced, and installed for about $300 or less depending on where you go.
