I don't know why but it does seem like more Xterra's brake the front diff. Maybe is their driving style.

I have not taken a part the M205 but everything is bigger.
Here is pic. Matt took showing the size difference in the axles.

defrent gears?

I'll see if I can get Nizmut to post pics of the titan VS. Frontier Diff, I think he has both in his garage. He put the titan diff in and that small precentage of it being off made it over heat. I know the Automatic and xterra have a defrent gear ratio that I think they can match them.. I just want gears... Or mabey a job so I can put a 9 inch in the rear and I titan front diff. Also the titan CV joints are alot bigger.

most of the x's that have been blowing diff are OR 's that have either 3.69's or 3.36 but yeah over on newx its a daily occurance it seems like now

i tried to run the 3.36 up front and 3.69 in back bad idea , my t-case was binding up bad and i only ran it for about 5 feet to drive up onto a jeep

Over here it is rare and when it does happen it's the half shaft is the cause.
When you brake a half shaft you know it right away. First the pop is a lot louder, you can grab the inner joint and move it up and down, also you loose 4WD.

Here is what the half shaft pop sound like.
YouTube - broken front diff

Here is what brakes.

This is the broken off axle in the diff.

If the axles brakes off inside then you need to remove both half shafts immediately to save the diff.

I'm still wondering how many of the blown front difs had the sway bar. As tight as the sway bars are on these rigs, I don't think the front stands a chance. Also those spiders look soft, not a good raged break like most hardened metal.

Also the titan front is just a 2 spider set up.

I haven't check in weeks but chromoly shafts and a front locker would solve this problem.
