Retrax Roll Top

I know there's gotta be some of you out there with this bed cover.
Any comments on the product, good and bad.
I just picked up an '09 Frontier, and was looking at different bed covers.
If you got this cover, do you like it?
If you got something else, what do you have?
What made you chose the cover you got?

pics from the Retrax web site.....

I considered the Retrax, which I liked for its light weight and looks, but since I live in CO and we get a lot of snow, I went with Truck Covers USA instead because they're made of a thicker, powder-coated aluminum that can hold a considerable amount of snow without sagging and/or breaking. I have had mine for three years and I really like it. The only maintenance it needs is some silicone lubricant twice a year. Its only drawback is the room the canister takes from the bed, especially on a short-bed crew cab. Also, you have to cut a couple notches on the side utili-track rails and drill three holes for water drainage. IMO, it is a great heavy-duty cover. Here's their link:

I Like It!

Katsu,

Hawaii Truck Concepts is the dealer for the retrax. I have had one for a couple of years. I open and close it many times daily, it has never given me a bit of trouble. The cover actually rides on bearings so there isn't real maintenance issues there.

Marvin is the owner and lives a few blocks away from me. I got a good deal from him, assisted in its installation so that I would know how to remove it and trouble shoot it if I ever had to. I have un/reinstalled it a few times and I can do it in about 20 min. or less by myself.

The covering itself is IMO the nicest looking of all of the rolling bed covers out there, you need to take care of it if you want that nice look to last. It is NOT scratch proof, I abuse mine I think but I wash it and wax it from time to time and it still looks pretty good. They say it is NOT 100% waterproof, but mine has never leaked a bit even if I power wash my truck!

If you got the $ I recommend it. ( there are lots of them out there that will be fewer bucks )

The only thing I didn't do that I wish I would have is to install the tailgate lock so I could lock and unlock my tailgate with my door fob.

My truck is a work truck, I do my best to take care of it but I don't baby it either. If I can bang away day after day with opening and closing the retrax maybe 15-20 times for a couple of years and it still looks good I think you or anyone else would like it.

Anyway, just two cents from an actual owner/user and abuser.

Are you ordering directly from Retrax? Of was that a local price quote?

I decided to have Hawaii Truck Concepts install my Retrax bed cover.
It's an awesome cover.
And I got in their new color offering.....silver, since my Frontier is silver.
Thanks 06nismoKC for the info

Tell Marvin "hi" for me.

If you get a chance to help him with the install its worth the trouble cause you will know how to do it yourself.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Thumbs up

had my retrax for a couple yrs now. yes i like it! just a bit classier than a vinyl tonneau.
this past winter we got dumped on snow wise. i measured 13" of heavy, wet snow on the cover with no damage. its very versatile. it'll lock open in any position. and yes, it will scratch.
think i paid ~$875-$900 shipped to the Great Northwest. shop around
