Had the issue in october of 07' and got it fixed. The noise came back so slightly after a couple months but not as bad as before. The dealer told me if the noise got worse they will fix it.

05 SE, well, its all in the sig...anyway, got a whining noise that got worse as the RPMs climbed, took it in May 2007, at 32,663 miles; they replaced the timing chain tensioner and a few other parts, and the whine hasn't been back since. No big deal really, especially cause they gave me an 07 Xterra 4x4 for a week as a loaner!!!
EDIT: List of parts/part #s replaced under warranty: #13070-7Y011- Tensioner Assembly; #13070-7Y016- Tensioner Assembly; 2 of #15066-5E510- Seal-O Ring; 2 of #13028-7Y010- Chain- Camshaft; #999MP-A7007P- Gasket Silicone

Do you know if they resolved this for the 08 model (not sure of engine number)? What were the symptoms and what mileage did you encounter this problem?
My 2005 did it after about 30,000 miles and among other issues, it turned into a lemon law lawsuit. I won. I gave Nissan a 2nd chance. My 2006 Frontier needed the timing chain done at about 30,000 miles. Like the other poster, the sound is back, but much softer and I can ignore it. I have had more trouble with either one of these trucks than my other four trucks combined at over 250,000 miles.
I should be allowed to vote twice but the system won't let me.
I have a slight high pitched noise when I let off the throttle. I just figured it was the air intake or something. I'm sorry I don't know what 'issue' you guys are talkin about.

i believe at 10,000 miles I have it. I'm not sure but without the radio I sound supercharged.

Please let keep this to confirmed and had it serviced only. Not suspected. Please don't vote yes, unless it has been confirmed and repaired.
