its an e-brake! if your brakes go out you can pull the "e-brake" which is always a cable!! hence an emergancy!

Emergency brake. I never use it. And yes, it does get in the way, I would have loved to have a fold up bench seat.

depends on your age...

You call it what the person who taught you how to drive referred to it. My parents called it an emergency brake. They are now in their 80's and going strong! Guess that makes me old too. LOL

The only problem with that is they don't stop you in an emergengy.
