i call it a parking brake cause thats what i use it for.

I prefer "Parking Brake." Most of the time when I park my vehicle. It's never an emergency.

I always thought it was good to apply the parking brake when parked period with a automatic trans because it takes the pressure off the transmission.

i e-brake it. idk why, id rather say E-BRAKE than PARKING BRAKE....i alwwways use it too, even if im on the flattest of hills. what i dont understand is why the hell people with stick park their cars/trucks IN NEUTRAL. like wtf are you thinking. i gear it and put on the ol e-brake...

I voted for parking brake, however it is real useful for the occasional U turn when nobody is looking, just before the halfway point release and pour on the coal, you are outa there.

I park in neutral when I am on the level, but when I am on a hill, i usually leave it in 1st. Im not sure why I do this, it might come from moving the big rigs around the yard in the summers.
