I rent a lot of cars, and sometimes I'll get 4 or 5 miles before I realize that I left the emergency brake on. It doesn't say a lot about me, but it says even less about the 'emergency' brake. It should be called an 'emergency makes-your-car-smell-funny lever'.




Points if anyone can name that.

why would you use your handbrake to stop if their were children on the road? Wouldnt conventional braking stop you alot sooner? i call it a handbrake

what about the cars/trucks/van/etc that you have to use your foot to apply it?

It's a parking brake. It should be used on all vehicles IMO. If you live in a place that uses salt in the winter, you need to use your parking brake daily to keep it from seizing up. I use mine in both my automatics since day one.

most of the time it's a parking brake for me... sometimes it's a lever for activating fun/a grin depending on the situation

I only put on the e-brake when I am parked on a hill. I think in the owner's manual it says something about damaging the parking brake if you are on a hill.
