HECK NO
I wanted one bad and was in the process of getting one but decided against it. Definatley a CBR RR. Everyone I know who has a bike has pretty much wrecked it due to some one elses stupidity. In Texas they have say that one motorcycle rider dies each day. Also road rash is a B to get out I hear its pretty much like scouping ice cream but instead its you skin.

Nice choice on the RR. Very nice bikes! I have almost 16,000 miles on my RR and haven't had a single maintenance issue with it. Just change the oil every 4000 miles and ur good to go. All the rider's that have posted up are exactly right about having quality gear and riding within their limits. I have over 1500 dollars invested in my riding gear. If and when I do go down I know I will give myself the best chance I can to have minimal injuries. Had a friend get wrecked by a local police officer just last week. He was wearing his helmet, gloves, and leather jacket. Only thing that hurt him was having on regular blue jeans. He was going 70 when he hit, and the only injury he had was road rash on his legs. So, good gear, knowing your limits, and always being alert are some of the most important things a rider can have.

If and when i get a motorbike, the main purpose of it is for use around town. Highway or long trips, i would use my truck. And if i need to go somewhere thats less than half a mile away...bust out the bicycle!

I'm sorry, a jacket and bluejeans with what looks to be A-stars Stella Armada boots does not constitute as full gear. However, think about how bad her foot would have been had she not been wearing shoes that offered even the small amount of protection those Stella's did especially since she lost the battle against an 18 wheeler.

Bought a 2004 Honda ST1300 in April 2004. Loved the ride and the gas mileage...right up until it almost killed me.

Don't know what happened (3 days of amnesia), but something made me have a major wipeout at 60mph on a 2 lane country road in the middle of nowhere (suspect a deer came out of the side and I swerved to miss and lost control).

Got a helicopter ride to the hospital, 11 days in the hospital, 3 months of physical therapy working to restore movement to my shoulder, out of work on disability for 13 weeks. Ruptured spleen, 7 broken ribs, broken collarbone, broken shoulder-blade, 3 fractured vertebrae, and a collapsed lung. $100,000 in medical bills (mostly covered by insurance).

The strange thing is there wasn't a scratch on the outside of my body. I was covered head-to-toe in protective gear and it worked - the cracked helmet probably explains the amnesia, but it was also the difference between getting killed and just hurting for a while.

Bikes are a lot of fun, but you never know when something beyond your control is gonna jump out and bite you in the rear. I'm no longer riding as I can't put my wife and mother through an experience like this (or worse) again, and I have no desire to experience that kind of pain again.

I'll stick to scuba diving with sharks without a cage.

The point of the post was to show that the part of her body that was injured the most, was fully protected. Road rash is no big deal in reference to her jeans, 90% of the guys I see on bikes rarely wear full leathers, so thats why I would never ride street. You can have all the gear money can buy, but you'll lose every battle against a vehicle. If I had a street bike, Id stick to the race track, but thats just me.
