i'm a drill sergeant so i really only use my truck to transport myself to and from work. my wife has the family car so my kids are never even really in it. the sb works fine for me. i have the bed extender (which i've never used) if i ever need to haul anything too big. it all comes down to what you need from the truck. for the majority the short bed will work just fine. for those that actually use their trucks as trucks, they might actually need the long bed.

I have a SWB Nismo which I like but would've bought the LWB had the turning radius been better.

I wanted the SB because I never really haul anything and the turning radius is (probably slightly) better. I traded a standard bed 06 Chevy Ext Cab LT for my SB 07 Crew. I got tired of having to "work" my way into spaces at malls, Walmart, etc.

I actually had to HUNT for a short bed crew Frontier. When I bought mine, they had just come out with the longer bed version and all the dealerships apparently hadn't ordered any SB. The dealer nearest me was the only one out of 3 dealerships to have any in stock (always shop around). They had Storm Grey, Black, and White. Didn't want black cause it's hot as Hades in Mississippi during the summer; I liked the white but it had the crappy chrome wheels and step bars on the sides that are only useful for getting your pants' legs dirty (hope I haven't offended anyone); and the Storm Grey (luckily!) had everything that I wanted. If I could have chosen the color I would have picked that brick or dark red or maroon or merlot (etc.) color. The grey is great though. Doesn't show dirt bad which is good.

Each dealer had at least 8 of the LB Frontier Crews in every color and layout. If I had atv's or motocross bikes or something else I'd probably go with the LB. For towing or hauling large appliances or something like that the SB is fine. Not sure what the curb weight difference is but I'd be on at least a couple hundred pounds of extra metal in the frame, bed, drive shaft, and exhaust.

I was convinced (!) I had to have a long bed untill I drove both. The LB steared like a school bus IMHO. The SB was much more menuverable and seemed to have about the same ride so I changed my view. As for bed length/use. I've hauled 14' aluminum boats in the back of my SB with the aid of a $40 extend-a-bed device. For every day use, I have never run out of bed either.
Still a happy camper.

Longbed wouldn't fit in my garage. Also, I've never needed the extra length. I'm very light duty for hauling needs.

And to all of you using the excuse if I needed a bigger box I would have got a full-sized truck. Heres some news as a contractor in this current economy I would normally need a full sized but I stepped down to a mid-sized for fuel consumption and the Frontier was the best one for my money. And yes the turning radius is horrible despite an otherwise fantastic truck.

I totally agree. I don't see the point in purchasing a truck with a short bed.

Purely opinion, but looks wise, definitely a long bed. The short beds remind me of the short bus. But steering radius definitely sucks!

I would have to say SB because my wife drives the truck sometimes. The shorter the truck, the less chance for damage when turning!
