Yeah, that mountain, is the one that my sig picture is from. You can just make out the stuff on the top(because of the reduced resolution). There is 2 windmills, one larger than the other. A cell phone tower, and a forest fire look-out station.
Also this shot was heavily cropped as well, there was a bunch of empty sky that I got rid of.

The mechanics of the shot were this...
For best results with most lenses, you should be stopped down a few stops from wide open. This was shot at f11, to give the large depth of field. Shot in Aperture priority, when I set the aperture to f11, the camera selects a shutter speed to get what it thinks is a correct exposure. The camera picked around 1/20 of a second...this requires a tripod, especially since I was zoomed in to 105mm, which will amplify any shaking.
I also used my remote, and a feature on my camera that delays the exposure a few milliseconds, to try to help eliminate vibration cause by the camera's mirror lifting. One more thing I did was use my camera's bracketing feature. This takes on picture at the settings you choose, then takes one a little darker, one a little brighter. That way you have a much better chance at getting the shot you are looking for.

I do have a polarizing filter, but did not have it on for this shot. Just my bare naked 18-200mm VR Nikkor. After mentioning that, I think it might help cut down on the glare off the moon itself, might give it a try next time.
I adjusted the White Balance to warm it up a touch, and because I shot in Raw instead of jpeg, I was able to recover some detail out of the moon. When I took the shot, the moon was mostly washed out with very little detail. When shooting Raw, you are able to recover some of this detail.
