I have done basically the same as you have as in the K&N drop in filter and cut out the damper in the air box.Even though I think I got a better increase from the air box mod I went with the filter as I got is so cheap.
It would appear that the only bodies doing anything for the truck is in the US. That being said from what I have seen , any mods like exhaust etc may increase power but dont do your economy any favours. It would appear in all honesty that best bang for buck is to leave the truck stock.

I wonder if the APS twin turbo setup for the VQ35 would bolt to a VQ40. Now a 850+hp Navara, wouldn't that be nice.

ah yes but thats a shedload of sheckles and unless you really wanna put in the hard yards its not really a good bang for buck solution unless you wanna go a 1 off deal.
I think the Stillen unit reports 78kw increase at 6000rpm .If however you wanted to play with a Capa unit and custom piping then you could go higher but at this stage if its a kit your after then unfortunately I fear it will have to be a US made unit

No actually they are alomst identical as far as air tubes etc. Its just the firewall thats reversed so in theory they shouldnt foul anything. That being said there is no guarantee .The blower ( sucky squeezy blowey makey biggy bangy thingy)should only be on the top of the motor and new air pipes etc. The intercooler piping should mount straight through the radiator supprt and fit without issue.

the fact the steering is reversed might...
I know working off the UK manuals for the diesel things like some of the wiring, fuse box etc are swapped over...

not a great deal of room under the bonnet for that but you could always put in a rear mounted turbo
