Outside Temperature Guage

Once again Nissan Australia has dumbed down our version of the Navara. We don't get the outside temperature guage read out in the LCD display in the dash.

Does anyone know if you can "activate" that function simply by plugging in a temperature sensor? The sensor sits under the front of the front bumper.

Might be a cheap way of getting some additional functionally back!

I must admit never seen that display in the dash. I know they get it in the rear view mirror
As to can we activate it , well am still looking into what we can get outa the ECU as I want to run auto lights but have to work out if the UK Navara has it. I would guess anything the UK Navara gets we should in theory be able to get as the trucks are all made in the same factory

As far as I know, none of the U.S. Frontiers have an outside temp display on the dash. The CC LE Model that comes with the Auto Dim rearview Mirror has it in the Mirror. I added that Mirror to my truck, so I have it, but didn't before that mod.

I have the plug but no temp sensor. I have the display in my 02 Maxima though. I wanted to buy the auto dimming mirror with temp and Homelink that the LE CC comes with but I don't have the wiring harness in the overhead. Your trucks are not the only ones that are "dumbed down."

Yeah, looking at the schematics, the Aussie Navs have the harness. I have thought about seeing what would happen if a sensor was plugged in, but finding a compatible one is another story I guess.

Can't you just wind your window down and stick your head out to feel the temperature??

If you look at the instrument panel under the clock and trip meter you can see extra numbers for for fuel consumption and maybe temp, its just not hooked up.

not everyone has a continual wet finger like you Paul lol

I have had a peek on the UK site and cant see anything there either about a temp gauge in the cluster apart from the engine temp.

Does in fact look like all we need is the tempertaure sensor. LHS LCD display.

Wonder if Nissan Australia stock them?

If ppl are keen, we could do a Group purchase?

yeah but we have to find where it would plug in
I mean the trucks also get auto lights and also things like fuel consumption etc . The clusters are all the same from what I can tell but it may mean something needs to be enabled in the ECU firmware for it all to work.
From the OBDII port we can already get things like the L/100km but nothing on the guage in our truck but it does show on some of the Frontiers. So there must be something else in the middle we need to do to get the extra features
