it's not just about economy for the $$$$ when you get a tune done. It's the over all improvement, power, throttle response, transmission shifts, anti abuse mods removed and also economy generally. But usually the added power and drivabilty of a tuned car makes it easier to push the loud peddle a bit harder more often thus economy takes a hammering. It's a case of you can have your cake and eat it too. $$ per KW(HP) probably the best mod you can do.

Ive owned (& still own) several modded cars now including a BA XR6 Turbo ute, A VW Golf GTI, A R33 GT-R v-spec & in the early days, I even a Datsun 1200 ute with a CA18det in it. - All posted better fuel economy after a tune than they did before it. - BUT, they are all turbo charged. - This thing isn't (yet), hense the question.

So, any Aussies have a tune in the Nav yet??

So it turns out there is another option for our trucks. There is a new thread Unichip that is discussing this product from Unichip. It looks like it is more readily available then Uprev and about $100 cheaper. Does not seem to have mail in tunes though. But at least it is another option to consider.

An update, this is a reply yesterday from LS1edit, Street Tuna from LS1 forum fame.

"David
We are well onto the Nissan process used in this series currently, having just 'cracked' the 4800 Patrol ECU for the UAE market, which is a direct relation to the VQ40 (we have also begun directly programming 350Z as well). Keep in touch here and I will let you know when we come across our first VQ40 "

He just released a mail order tune for the I30 diesel, results are very cool. Check the dyno results.

Worth waiting for their VQ40 tunes these guys do great work.
