D40 build difference

Does anyone know what the differnce is between the Thai built and the South African built is? Superior Engineering do a 6'' suspension kit (is this a Fabtech kit?) for the D40 but it specifies that it will only fit the Thai built D40

Do you know what side of the truck the driver sits in each? Maybe the lift has steering component clearance concerns?

There are 2 issues that I know of, 1 is with the cam bolts and the other is with the rear diff (some have true LSDs but the ring bolt pattern is odd).

Aussie Frontier may have an answer for you.

Be mindful of differences in the front/rear hub assembly, shaftlengths etc. Thai builts have 55mm instead of 37mm hubheight on front disks (while vehicle width is identical), which I suppose must work its way throughout the driveline and lower chassis.

The 05 -08 is spanish built not south african. There are slight differences such as calipers. Not sure on suspension differences. That kit is a copy of Calminis kit with longer spindles and coke can shock spacers id say. Fabtech use different shock extensions. It also doesnt supply rear shocks which both Calmini and fabtech do. For that price id order from the states.

Oh yeah my bad for the build location is Spain. Maybe the 6'' kit is a superior engineering design but like the 5'' kit its just a copy or maybe a restamp of the calmini kit like snake racing may have done also. I think it's just going to be easier to just call superior engineering to find out the difference, i was hoping to get a quick answer back as to what is the difference. But anyway here are the links for the superior engineering kits,

All STX are Spain Built except the King Cab which is thai, others (ST) are thai build.

Nearly everything is different on them, I had Thai Built STX King cab, now have Spain Built STX 550 and nothing is interchangeable, even the wheels (which look identical) aren't interchangeable due to different offsets.

Hey Just
Welcome to the dark side lol
The 550 is different again in many ways to the earlier STX DC anyway but it appears mainly cosmetic stuff .You can fit the suspension from a Spanish build with some slight mods to a Thai model but I havent heard of anyone trying to fit a Thai kit to a Spanish build. The Spanish built trucks are very close to being the same as the Frontiers but the Thai trucks are not the same

G'day aussie,

Yeah been hanging around here for a couple of years but haven't posted up anything, like to do my research.

Back on topic, do you (or anyone here) have any idea if the STX 550 has the same suspension components as the STX? Thinking of taking the plunge on the 5ich Calmini kit but don't know if it will fit.
