Custom Coilovers

Has anyone in Oz had any custom coilovers made for our D40s. Reason I ask is I am looking seriously into getting some made for my truck. They will be custom built using Bilstein shocks and Quadrant springs to give me a drop around 1.5-2", as well I will get matched Bilstein shocks up back and the leafs will be reset to give around 3-3.5" drop in the rear. Front and rear bumpstops will be shortened.

I'm after anyone who may have experience with something similar, in particular what the improvement in ride quality and handling will be and how much better will it actually be. As well as any clearance issues there may be. This will be a very expensive exercise if I decide to go ahead so I'm researching as much as I can before I commit.

Another thing is I have 22x9.5 inch rims and 285/35 tyres which I know will effect the setup.

FYI the suspension shop I went to has a great reputation here in Perth for their custom work on other vehicles including street/race/strip and show but they openly admitted I'd be their first D40 lowering project.

Lowered 2" front on superlow king springs, 2.5" rear with reset leafs and short body Oztec shocks and shaved bumpstops.

Have you been in contact with Greg from PRG?
I have just bought a pair of Radflo's from PRG and hopefully they are in the container on their way over . I havent heard of anything really thats truely height adjustable other than the Radflo's ( unless you wanna spend lotsa bucks ). Surely Greg would be able to do something .

I thought hard about the Radflo's but as I am in Perth let alone here in Oz if I need any changes or warranty it's going to be awkward and end could cost about the same. The custom coilovers will be made with adjustable platforms and the bilsteins have a system where they can moved to adjust stroke/travel.

By the way what is the freight costing you from the US to Oz?

Firstly Radflo actually has agents here in Aus and secondly if your not in a hurry for the gear then we can get stuff brought over in containers . I think for my 2 front Radflo's with Eibach and the 2 Bilsteins for the rear I think shipping is like $50 Aus. Then just gotta organise to get them from Melbourne to Canberra but that is still going to be way way cheaper than freight from the US under normal circumstances.
PM me for the details if you wanna ship stuff on the slow but cheap container method.

Time is not really the issue the bilsteins will be coming from Germany anyway.

I have emailed PRG but haven't heard back yet.

Radflo has agents here who are they, and does that mean even if I buy direct they will do the warranty stuff? The thing is I can have the bilsteins valved and set for my truck with the wheels/tyre combo I have and custom length for the reset lowered rear. My concern with the Radflos is Greg will have to take a guess at all of this, I know he could probably get it close but if it's not right then I have the hassle and given I can't really afford to have the truck off the road as I need it for work bigger hassle.

With Radflos + freight ex US + freight to Perth + fitting it's only couple hundred dollars or less cheaper, damn living in the west!! Always cost more here if ex US.

If I was in the east I wouldn't hesitate in fact they would have already been on the way.

Be nice to see and get a drive in a D40 with a set of Radflos up front and bilsteins in the back here in Perth but not sure if anyone here has this setup.

This is why I am asking so many questions. I have also found King now do a super low coil for the front and lowered leaf for our trucks but the problem is the shocks. I have been told by all I have called the choices are almost zero now but should get better in the next few weeks or so with the availability of shocks to suit our trucks from the likes of Koni/tein/munroe. But again it's all going to come down to the dollar, as we are fairly low volume for them it's will be costly which ever brand I go.

ANY PERTH D40 PEOPLE WITH RADFLOS PM ME PLEASE.

I beleive its XXtremeoffroad in QLD that are the agents as one of the other guys had to have some seals replaced on his radflos.I was actually going to go with them originally but with our dollar so strong etc I ordered and paid for my gear a few weeks ago and got it way cheaper than I could get it here. Normally I would have bought from home but there was a fair chunk of change difference.Greg had gear on sale at just on $100 off normal price for the replacement Radflo's so it meant I got the rear Bilsteins for basically $100. At the end of the day I scored the gear from PRG for just on $900 Aus so wasnt going to complain.
The gear from PRG is well made and has been used in way harder conditions than we are going to subject them too.
Not saying the guys in QLD dont have the same quality etc but I had to go by the simple fact it was cheaper from the US .

I see why you grabbed em when you did, probably be an extra $200 by now what with the A$ heading south big time and the price you got.

Those bilsteins from PRG are pretty good value for a stock height application but for 3" lower a shortened stroke shock would perform better which will cost me.

Makes the decision more difficult now.

We do offer a shorter coil over for the lowered Navarra through Greg at PRG. This has been run on a number of vehicles here.
