Well I got diagnosed with cancer back in November 2009.............started finding it difficult to walk on occassion..........stupid local doctor said it was osteoarthritis and treated me for that for 3 months before I has a serious attack on a Friday which lasted to Monday.........(no sleep, no sit, no stand, no walk, just pure bloody agony)
Went to hospital and was admitted straight away and was told it was prostate cancer......................only it was advanced and the cancer has moved out of the prostate and into the bones.
I have it in both shoulders, both hips, both rib cages, and in 2 spots around 2" above my knees.
Treatment is hormone treatment and I am responding very well.............but it makes you moody as sh!t...........and I have been picking on the wife a bit until I realised that this has been scaring the daylights out of her!
Had all sorts of guesses as to longevity and life expectancy too but that has finally settled down as well.
I was originally advised that I had 2 years to live but in the past week I was advised that due to my excellent response to this current treatment it would be 5 to 7 years before any serious operational type symptoms show in the bones so that has put a spring back in the step I can tell you!
My original PSA count was 475 but recently went down to 75 and is probably lower since my last blood test.
A healthy prostate has a psa count of 3.5, a sick prostate is around 6 and I was 475......................the biopsy found cancer in each of the eight samples.
So guys I am putting this up to all of you that are 50 and over to go and get a check up............its undignifying for a man to do this but it can mean life or death.
First of all, thanks for your compassionate advice for all of us who are susceptible, Ozroder.
I have been monitoring my prostate status for the past 7 years and I am still healthy (I'm 57). My co-worker is experiencing cancer that spread from his prostate and is in his brain and lungs and all over now. They don't expect him to make it to the end of the month.
It's good to read that the hormone therapy is doing you some good. Cancer treatment responds to the patient's mental attitude, so obviously your positive mental attitude is helping to improve your life!
I want to share this with you: chant these words "NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO" with the type of determination like you want to make fire under water and watch how your life responds with positive effects!

I am ok guys and appreciate your prayers and thoughts but I really dont think about it much............
I am busy at work and I have always been active in Harleys and like to tinker in the garage on my latest build most nights so dont think about it much.
Sure I have had a few days where I cried for hours cause it just came out of me but I honestly really dont let it change anything I am doing.
Any fruit and veggie therapy back in Oz?I believe cancer will feed on meat especially four leg animal.
Not suppose to eat meat if you have cancer thats what I heard.
There is a therapist back here in Indonesia, she was diagnosed with cancer not sure what but was healed because she did a fruit and veggie therapy.
I actually went to see her and was written a prescription of what fruits that I need to eat everyday, not because of cancer though, just for a healthy life & right now I eat no meat only fish and a bit of rice.
My thoughts and prayers to you. It is hard to say and believe sometimes, but keep the chin up. It seems when people relenquish their will, the disease seems to take on a new life. Don't stop fighting physically mentally.
Oi Mark who said you could get sick
U dont got permission so you cant be sick
Anything you need you know where we all are and we will do what you need
hang in there sunshine
Bundy Treatment is the latest and sposed to be the best. Bundy Red is meant to be the best .
I think this is something almost everyone dismisses and assumes it can never happen to THEM; but the all to scary reality is it can, will, and does happen to anyone.
My younger sister (24) has now been going through various treatments for a very rare cancer for over a year now. It all started with a dull earache that got progressively worse; on Christmas Eve of last year she received a call from the doctor letting her know it was Nasopharyngeal Cancer. After a year of treatment the cancer in her head is gone, but she has now developed two more tumors in her spine and there are signs of cancerous cells in her blood stream. She is now undergoing a specialized experimental treatment and the pain in her back is slowly subsiding, hopefully in a few months she will start her trail to a cancer free recovery.
I pray every night for her to not have to deal with this sh!t, and I will be praying for you and your family as as well.
Better days ahead Oz.... a funny story...
We had dinner with my wifes friend who had to have a Mastectomy and just finished her Chemo for Breast Cancer. She was talking about what to do for reconstruction and she asked me what would a guy think if one was missing? I told her to just put Beer Tap there and it would solve both problems.
Bottom line - too damn many people I know have/had cancer. Sisters, Bro-in-law, G-mothers, Friends.. etc. It's a most un-deserving situiation that anyone can be in.
