Thumbs down AVIC HD3 Purchase

As a few of you know, I work in Nigeria and do a 6/2 rotation so do not have much time in Australia to do things............

As a few of you know, based on your experiences with the Pioneer Avic HD3 unit, I decided to fit one to my vehicle on this trip back to Australia.

Well I found the unit at Ryda in NSW for 2899.............rang them on the Tuesday to make sure they had a unit in stock and told them of my urgency to get it from them.

Wednesday when the money went on the card, placed the order, including a few additional items...............rang through to confirm order and told them again of the urgency.

Get a message Wednesday evening to call them about order............could not call them until Thursday afternoon due to being in hospital for minor kidney stone operation.................

Ryda turns around and states that because they can not verify my home address through "Whitepages" they were not prepared to take my Mastercard..........and stated I had to direct deposit with them..........

I initially stated that this was ok but later realised that this would take Friday or Monday to clear money...............stuffing up my time to fit unit.......

I found another company which was $100.00 cheaper anyway, so rang Ryda back to cancel order but the guy in charge of returning the money (CHRISTIAN) is not available (IN A MEETING) and the money has not been put back onto my Mastercard account and this meant I can not purchase the item from the next company............

Ryda had not done anything to to help me with this purchase and continued to stuff me around.....................hence I can only advise that they are not worth the effort!
.................................................. ...........................................

Along comes Wayne Andrews of Andrews Car Radios............this guy is wonderful............he has bent over backwards to help me get the item as soon as possible...............no dramas using his company and no bullsh!\t either.............just a guy dedicated to helping the customer!

ACR Specials

I strongly recommend him to anyone as he delivers!

All the best, Ozroder

Christion from Ryda just called as I typed this out.................................I told him I was upset with him and asked when would the money go back on my card and he stated 7 days........this made me more upset as he new I was going back overseas on the 13th of September.....................he stated that he "quite frankly he did not understand my being upset or my attitude" so I said shut up D/Head and hung up on him! Definiteley not worth dealing with ever!

Hi to All

Apolgies to all forum members but I thought it was important we responded to Ozroders post re attempted purchase of a AVICHD3 Pioneer integrated stereo.

I wanted to set the record staright as to what occured and why.

Put simply the order we received from Ozroder was for a substantial amount of money and we attempted to verify the delivery and address information provided we were unable to do so,as we do with every order we receive.

When our team was unable to verify any details provided we tried to contact Ozroder several times but for a range of reasons he was uncontactable as he stated in his post. When we did finally speak with him on several occasions we asked for verification of some details provided which was refused. I am not going to into any further details bar to say that without any way of verifying Ozroder we were not going to ship the order.

We are keen supporters of forums just like this one, through our affiliate programs we run including many of the leading 4x4 forums. We also pride ourselves on offering great car audio and electronic brands to all parts of Australia, allowing in particular rural Australia to buy the latest products at Sydney prices. We have done this for over 10 years now and have serviced over 80,000 customers with great feedback.

Unfortunately, in this situation not all went to plan, remembering there are two sides to every story.

Should any member require assistance or information with regards to GPS or Audio for their cars or 4x4 please drop a line.

Your salesman stated because he could not find me in Whitepages he could not verify my address............when I purchase overseas..........I only need to advise that my credit card billing address and shipping address are the same......which they are.........I also give the 3 digit security code as well..............and do date I have not had any issues.

I have an answering service on my phone...............your guy left a message the night before but there was no evidence of him ringing me "several times" today................however, I will state that he did ring once and the phone had hung up after the phone rang once only as he stated.........IF infact the call was from him............when I rang back he was IN A MEETING.

Did they seriously charge your credit card and then say they were going to keep the money for a week?

A final note.

Would any one here fulfill an order just because the shipping address and the billing address was the same and not having any ability to check the authenticy of the information provided. Where the delivery address was not associated to the purchaser.

If the answer is 'yes' then we were no doubt in the wrong and apologise unreservedly.

The part I dont get..........their rep stated the order had not gone through to processing with the bank.......................so I thought everything was ok.............later in the conversation he stated it took about a week for the money to go back on my card....................this got me just a little upset!!!!!!! because even if I threw more money onto the card it would take longer to do no matter what.................

Funny though, I just had select TV installed at my house.............they wrong billed me, put the money back on my card........then rebilled me the correct amount.........

It all took 24 hours.........................you figure it out!

I to can vouch andrews car audio over ryda.com

i recently bought a steering wheel remote for the hd3 from them and after ringing 1st to check they had it in stock i arrived at there store to be told by the guy at the counter that it would need to be orderded.
i stated that i had rung to check and was told that it was in stock and that i was here to now pick it up.
lucky i remembered the part number for it and to which he claimed "oh that one" i thought to myself geez lucky at least i know what im talking about huh.
anyone else might of just walked out of the store frustrated..
so cmon ryda sales staff its time to brush up on whats what with pioneer!!

now as for adrews car audio:
i got my hd3 from these guys also at a great (and cheaper)price and although they dont have the flashy showroom like the bigger guys the drive from sydney to newcastle was worth the effort for the exceptional service they give!

these guys know there stuff and nothing is to much trouble for them.

support the little guys i say and give them a try next time you need some audio gear as with these guys your not just another face in the crowd!!

Hey at the end of the day not every transaction goes to plan.
I have bought gear from overseas many times.Did you know that many shops in Nth America wont accept a credit card at all if the mailing address is in Australia. other companies dont give a rats where ya live as long as you give them valid numbers.
Some places should use PayPal as it just saves all the drama.
I go by the simple rule that if the Credit card is valid and you have all the right numbers then who cares what addy your shipping the stuff too. I mean if the card is stolen then how hard is it to goto the shipped address and get the gear back.

That is why I join forums..............to help where I can, to learn from others, see different ideas ways to do something and to be able to stand up to clowns that give you bad service...........and advise others of the issues in the hope that these companies get their sh!t together..........as they never seem to lose.

I have used PayPal and been ripped off............PayPal could care less.........just look up PayPal complaints around the world...........

Calmini was another one that acted in a similar manner and I put up my side of the story about those wankers too................

I do intend to advise on just when the money goes back onto my card.....................

Thanks for the support guys................

With out starting a massive forum **** slanging match - After all I remember a saying along the lines of "argueing over the internet is like running in the speacial olympics, you are still retarded even if you win" - I can see Ryda's point.

Being a business owner I am dead set paranoid about bogus credit card transactions, and for any amount over $1000, even with the card present I request to see the drivers license. As for phone or i/net orders, I'll only accept bank transfer/EFT regardless of the amount.

You just can not be careful enough anymore. Why risk suppying 3 grands worth of gear with bugger all margin, to find out the day after you dispatch it that the card holder din't know, lodges a complaint with thier bank, the money is suspended while the banks involved investigate. 6 weeks later it all turns oiut to be OK, but thats not much good to someone like myself who operates with most suppliers either 14 or 30 day accounts.

Having said all of that - I prefer to be upfront with my customers regarding trading terms and the only wrong doing I can see by Ryda was not clarifing this with ozroader before accepting his credit card payment. By the way OZ, 7 (5 working) days is kind of normal - when the payment is processed it can take 2-3 days to hit our account, then we organise a refund via the same machine which the banks also seem to process slowly, another 2-3 days back to your account. Hency 4 to 6 days normal

So Oz - agreed, ryda should have more clearly stated thier trading terms
Ryda - fully appreciate where you came from with this matter as well and it wouldn't stop me ordering

Geezus....this post is longer then every other one I've made put together

Pretty hard to get **** back...they send it usually to a house under construction etc, meet the truck, sign for it collect and **** off quick smart... then we as the vendor end up with no parts to re stock, no money, and a bad rep....
