Hello AU-D40,

Funny enough, it was your thread too that got me interested in seeking out the AVIC HD3.............

I think you have missed the point here.............I rang them on 3 occassions and advised of my urgency and at no time did they discuss with me about the system they needed to verify my address, otherwise this may have been a non event.

This gets down to business versus customers..................................

99% of my purchases are through the internet.................if a business has not got its act together in regard to a purchase I am making as in this recent event with Ryda then that business is causing me the customer to suffer.....................

If you and that business are suffering due to internet fraud.........then dont advertise on the internet.............

I am not trying to fight anyone either and certainly dont want to start flaming anyone on here, but equally I am sick and tired of being stuffed around by businesses too.................I lose, not them.

Why is it too that one company causes a problem and one company gives excellent service?

Enough for me anyway...................

Ozroder

I didn't miss a point - see as above - Ryda should have more clearly stated thier trading terms on large purchases.

However as I said also they are protecting thier own asses from a possible case of fraud which I would have handled exactly the same - with the only differance being one of making my trading terms more apparant prior to you making the purchase.

I do business on the net as well at times and my way of dealing with it on a purchase from someone overseas or interstate ESPECIALLY is to demand transfer via EFT. It minimises the risk to myself, but also to the appropriate cardholder.

Apart from that do you like the headunit?

By the way - re the VMS unit - I looked at one of those and decided the Pioneer suited me better

I like the way it operated more as a radio rather then a car pc. as for topo maps, we weren't fussed, we'll be going for a seperate unit for that because we do a fair bit of bushwalking once we stop and get out of the car - thats where the handheld gps will serve us well. Not to mention being able to take it into the house to plug into the pc and setup the waypoints etc

Hello AU - D40,

I will recieve the HD3 unit this afternoon..................I have decided to fit this in the wifes 350Z.

The VMS Unit will arrive this afternoon as well and I will fit this into the D40.....I will report back on here with my findings on both units if time permits on this trip.

The VMS has Hema and Ozexplorer maps....................., I think it will allow me to set waypoints etc..............on my computer then transfer these by SD card to the head unit..............

I will bearly have time to even give the unit a once over on this trip.......so we will see.

Both have pros and cons on the literature the way I see it at the moment......

There are harnesses available that will allow both units to plug into the Nissan D40...............so I will check on this again as well.

All the best, Ozroder
