Aftermarket rims & tyres

I am up for new tyres and have decided to replace the rims at the same time with 17X8's from Advanti Wheeldemon - Wheels - Advanti Racing - Riot
I am yet to decide on a tyre though (BFG A/T or Coopers probably). After searching the international section of this forum, it seems that most in Oz are running 265/70R17, so am leaning towards the same, but the tyre fitter quoted on 245/70's ( I guess he simply worked out the specs on the Conti's and chose something with similar dimensions).
Any updates from those that have been running the larger rubber?
Is there sufficient to hang the slightly larger spare, or should I just keep the 16 inch rim (minimal off-road use)?
Finally, is it best to take it to a specialist 4WD joint for the wheel alignment or is it a pretty straight forward job?
Thanks Moorie.

Thanks for that , I did see them and was thinking about getting them but I kinda have made up my mind in getting some ROH Black Track LINK I can get them for $100 fitted , no caps or nuts and they don't look as plain as the std RX wheels , I think the RX were only a 6" rim and fitting a 265 tire all be it close to being illegal , the body roll would be even worse with all the weight I'm carrying

I was also looking at some speedy rims desert-rat-black/silver as I like the chrome center over the plain on that you get with the ROH wheels and than I was considering in getting them in Silver LINK but Black LINK would make for a nice change after 3 years of silver

I shall find out if the prices I was quoted were with or without the chrome caps and make up my mind then

Marty

What kind of Cooper are you thinking about running? I have BFGs on my X in AT and I like them....and I'm running Cooper MTs on my Frontier and they are incredible. I'm sure you will most likely be running the Cooper ATs though. I've had Cooper tires in the past on various other vehicles, and they always lasted long and put up with a lot of torment.

You wont see me run Coopers ever again , long story ,rough ride, uneven wear and as for there warranty its not worth the paper its written on another long story

I'm running GeoLanders and they are far better in the wet than the coopers ever were, smooth ride and value for money sure they are not as good for grip on gravely roads but they do offer good grip in the Bush when needed, but I do most of my driving on roads these days and spend more off time on my Bevel Ducati's

So there you have it in a nut shell, I might still buy the Fleebay wheels as they are not to far from me and I can always paint them black

Cheers Marty

I've ordered a set of these from the states. Wheels in Australia are to expensive especially the steel rims. These are 17 x 8 Mamba's just under $1000 US air feighted.
