2 degree timing advance
Anyone in Aus had the 2 degree timing advance done to their D40 V6s or asked a dealer about it?. Seems pretty popular in the US and some have even had their dealer do it.

It might all the go in the US , something to take into consideration is the fuel quality and octane rating if there is no difference betweek US and OZ fuels you could give it a go , but you will run hotter engine temps ,more oil burning , heat stress and so on
Is it worth it in the long ???

Trying to get the dealers to do anything is hard enough let alone a modification !

Just a thought. With the US using 87RON as std and 93RON as next up fuel quality(pretty sure thats what they are reading on here) I figured an extra 2 deg of timing would be easy here in AUS even on our std unleaded let alone 95RON. When a ECU remap is done the first thing the tuner does is add some timing, factory tunes are conservatory by nature. With the MAF still in extra timing shouldn't be an issue and add the knock senor even a bad batch of fuel would be still safe.

From what I read somewhere a few years ago, the US calculate their "RON" slightly different than we do here in OZ. i.e. their 93 is not what would be the equivalent here as a 93.
Don't quote me on that as I cant remember the full details

US octane ratings are an average of MON and RON where as in Oz we use just the RON. (higher value)
I believe that as a rough rule of thumb MON is about 6 points lower then RON, so the US standard 87 octane fuel would infact be close to our std 91RON octane fuel.
