Yes, another tire thread after lots of searching and reading
So I have been reading on here for about 2 hours and I have so much info swimming around in my head. I was hoping that someone could bring some clarity to it all.
I have a 2001 CC 4x4 and supposedly the stock size is 255/65/16. Well I just noticed that my truck, which I bought used, currently has 265/70/16's on it. There are a few things that this makes me think about. First, this means my speedo is off about 4% and that might contribute slightly to my low gas mileage readings. Secondly, it makes me wonder why someone would go to that specific tire size from stock and would that size fit on my truck stock? Is my truck lifted and I didn't know it? Seems strange.
I would also like to know what the biggest tire that I can run on my stock truck with no lift and no changes to anything. I like the General Grabbers A/T 2's but I would like to get them as big as possible without any lift. Like I said, I have read many threads but can't find the simple answer. I also don't know, now, if my truck might be lifted and if so that changes what size tires I can run.

Will do. I'll try and take some tomorrow. I think it looks pretty good myself. I can't seem to find a true 31" tire in 16" rims anywhere. Do they even make such a thing?
Since posting this I have been reading about intakes and exhausts. I'm going to attempt the airbox mod this weekend but I was wondering about buying a 50 series flowmaster and getting a shop to weld me up some custom pipes. Will this sound okay on the puny 3.3 we have? I looked but could not find sound clips of a 3.3 with aftermarket exhausts.
does this tell you anything?

Not sure if the SE had different tires than the XE, but I'm 99.99% sure my OEM tires were 265s, not 255s. Could just be a difference between the XE and SE, but i can't imagine why the SE would have skinnier tires than the XE...
if that was the factory size it could have been upgraded because the previous owner wanted 31x10.50's which is what size 265/70/16 approximately. i'd say stick with it! there won't be a big difference between 255/65 and 265/70 other than better traction. both tire sizes will probably weigh about the same. going from a 31 to a 33 (285/70/16 or so) is a big jump tho in both weight and cost...

Okay cool then. I think I'll pick up a set of the general grabbers in 265/70/16.
I'm also pretty much decided on the 40 series flowmaster with custom piping for an exhaust unless anyone has a better idea.
I think I'll leave the suspension alone for now since I don't really do much wheeling.

its hard to tell... but from the pic, it does kinda look like the torsion bars may have been adjusted a little... it sits pretty level, which our trucks did anyway, but they where a little nose low, and that looks like its more nose high...
and my stock tires where 255/65/17's... but thats the SC package
