What After Market Shocks have You Tried?

I found on the Mazda 4x4 I traded in on my new Frontier that the factory shocks were excelent and I probobly wouldn´t have been tempted to up grade to an after market shock had I had the truck long enough to require replacement. However I´m curious to know if anyone has tried an after market shock for the gen I Frontier that they feel is noticable better all around than original equipment. Or alternatively if you´ve tried a shock you were really dissappointed in.

i've installed and tested driven many different shocks for the 1st gens......monroe reflex's were a much better performing than the OE especially under load....monroe sensa-tracs are i think too cushy imo....KYB are cool but were surprisingly stiffer than rancho 5000's..... tokicos are really good performance shocks........so best bet is to place your truck in a category to get the best shock that suits your driving style....

I threw in the rancho 5000's in the rear of the truck (doing a coil over conversion up front here in a few weeks so thats why i didnt put them up front) but i have noticed a big differance in the rear compared to the front. i would recommend the rancho's for sure!

I have the Bilstein 5100 HD up front and the Bilstein 5125 in the rear. They ride alittle rough on the highway but they perform great offroad

Ok thanks everybody for the feedback. I put some Monroe Sensitracs on a Vitara and thought they made a difference.

I say go with the rancho 5000's they are solid. mine is a little bumpy because of the lift but my buddy has 5000's in his taco and no lift .. they feel great!
