Unhappy Truck won't start

My wife has a 2002 Frontier S/C that died on the way home the other day. She managed it to restart it and get it home. The next day I started it no problem but after a few minutes the idle got slower and slower and finally died. I have not been able to start it since.

Now I know these tyoes of problem are almost impossible to solve over the internet but I do have a question. When I turn the key forward (not engaging the starter) there is a clicking noise coming from under the vehicle, right by the tranny. Is this normal? Can someone tell me what this noise is? It sounds like a relay that is clicking really fast.

EDIT: Truck is turning over. Starter/Battery/Alternator all fine.

BTW, the truck has no CEL and I have replaced the fuel filter and checked the air filter. Tomorrow I am going to check for spark to help rule out a ignition problem.

Thanks!

Sorry, I should have been clearer. The truck turns over fine, it just won't start.

Thanks though!

could possably be the fuel pump, i know when i had my camaro, i switched it over to a FI from carb, and had the electric pump go out, it would do the same thing, keep on turning over but not starting (no fuel getting to it)

I was thinking it might be the fuel pump, I'll pull a fuel line and crank the engine over and see what happens. I should have done that while I was changing the fuel filter.

Thanks.

In the correct amounts.

Hopefully I can get this figured out. I'll post back here with the results.

Thanks!

yeah, sounds like an FSU problem....fuel sending unit. nissan has a full recall going on those right now....go to a dealership and have yours checked out...if its that, they will check i t nd replace it for free. if its not, just tell them you don't want anywork done, unless you are still under warranty

I just looked up the recall. Looks like rust on the connectors has been causing failures. Is there any way I can clean these myself so I don't have to pay for a tow?

By any chance does some one have a diagram of where these connectors are located?

Thanks!

sounds to me like your fuel pump has given up. Even tho they can pump huge amounts of fuel it only takes a small spec of dirt to stall the pump.
I would put money on it that if you replaced the pump then it would be good as new again
