Trailer wiring

I did a search and found nothing on the first gen so here goes.I got a 2002 cc 4x4.I have a small trailer that I haul kayaks on and needed to hook up the lights.I called the dealer yesterday to get the factory plug in harness for the trailer lights and they wanted 90 somthing bucks for it!!!!!!!!So I spent $8 bucks on the splice it in yourself kit from the auto part store. Now installed everything works running lights, brake lights but no blinkers.I checked all the wires and they are correct but the blinkers will not blink when hooked up.I checked the trailer and ended up rewiring it also.Everthing is new and still no blinkers.I was told I might need an electronic turn signal converter does any body have any ideas?

You will need the converter as your truck turn signals are separate from your brake lights. You should be able to pick it up at the same place you bought your plug. There will be five wires into the converter and 4 out. I've paid anywhere from $15 to $30, shop around if you have the time.

You should be able to get a plug and play harness made by Hoppy. That's the setup I had on my 95 Hardbody. NAPA sells them.

That's the way to go. They make harnesses for just about any vehicle and they are high quality.

In getting ready to order an '07, I'm trying to decide if I should go for the factory receiver (tow pkg) or just do it on my own and save $200. Does anyone know: 1. If the factory set up comes with the full wiring harness, relays, etc already installed, or do they just give you the hitch installed and make you install the wiring. Nissan's site is quite vague in that respect, and the salespeople at the dealer don't know. They refer to giving me something "in a box." If they have everything installed for me to plug in already, then is what they give me in that box actually the wiring harness for adding an electric brake controller? 2. What are the pros/cons of just using one of the plug & play connectors like this one in the link below? What do those relays in the factory harness add? I've used these plug in T-connectors before for 4-flat wiring harnesses. Is there a disadvantage to them? If later I want to upgrade to the 7-pin setup and an electric brake controller, how hard is it to add the wiring harness? Is it a plug & play setup that can be done without cutting & splicing or ripping out the interior to run wiring up front?

Any help would be appreciated.
