Tires

I just got a 2000 Xe Kingcab. I am looking to upgrade the tires sooner than later as i would like something with some decent traction. I was wondering if 215/75 size tires would fit on my truck? I know stock is 215/65... but I dont want street tires. so is there a way around it without lifting my truck and getting new wheels?

I have read the faq... i was just curious if anyone else was running something like, BF Goodrich All Terrains on stock wheels... just wanted to say this so you guys didnt think i was asking stuff that i could read in the faq

I went from a 225/70-15 stock tire on my stock wheel to a 235/75-15 on my stock wheel and have had no problems. There seemed to be quite a bit of room in the wheel wells so I thought I would give it a shot. I looked up the specs on the factory tire and the tire I wanted. I took the size over stock and divided it by two (e.g., my stock diameter was about 27" and the new would be about 29" so I figured the outer edge of the tire would expand 1"; the width was 10mm bigger so I figured the outer edge would expand 5mm from that) and tried to determine if I had that much extra room between the stock tire edge and anything in the wheel well. I did not articulate the suspension, but I did turn the front wheels (the only place I thought I would have any issues any way) lock to lock and it looked like there was plenty of room for the extra inches. I could probably go bigger and may someday, but I was happy to be able to fit a 235/75-15 since it is such a common tire and as a result has a good brand, model, and price selection.

Was there any drop in fuel mileage? I was actually considering a drop to 215's to save on fuel.
