the only mud tire that seem to get really good mileage is the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's they are a harder rubber. therefore they arent as good offroad but you still get the benefits of having a mud tire (self cleaning, aggressive sidewall). but this mixture of all around goodness comes with a steep price tag.

if you want to get a lot of miles out of your tires then a/ts are the way to go. the Micky T Baja ATZ's are aggressive and if i dont get the MT/R's ill be going with them. i currently have the MTZ's. not to mention all terrains seem to have more 15" wheel sizes like 32 11.50 and such. instead of just jumping from 31 to 33 to 35.

mt/r's

atz's

My 2 cents on BFG / ATs

When I upgraded tires about a year ago, I went bigger, but I went more aggressive too. I bought the BFGs because of the popularity. I have been very pleased with them. I drive on the highway every once in a while and I have found them to be very quiet and smooth, but dig and grab when they need to. My only advice is to rotate when you should rotate.

to the OP---if you dont do much offroading go with the ko or good AT. i have the bfg muds and they are superior when it comes to traction on slickrock, rock, loose/rocky hill climbs, and decent in mud but they suck on ice or snowpack.

this has probably been covered a million times but i cant see to find info on it...what is the biggest tire you an fit on a 15" xe rim under an unlifted truck? the reason i ask i that i will be lifting my truck but if i happen to buy tires first it would be nice to put them on and ride...just curious. are 31x10.50x15's too big for a 2006 xe with a 3"front/2"rear lift?
