Tranny rebuild? .... really?
Guess them suckers aren't as tough as they sound.

The oil did look good with no indication of over-heating & or burning.
She shifted smoothly through the gears although I do realize that 100k miles is still a 100k miles!

He's currently saying that "off-roading" is no interest to him .... that's now!

The only other thing that I could think of is the knock sensor. I had to replace mine around then as well as a few other people that I know. Although it cost me around 500 because they have to take the plenum off to get at it on our V6's the truck still sounds like a good deal. You could try Kelly Blue Book to find out exactly what it is worth. www.kbb.com

KBB has the vehicle running at about $9k with all the accesories in good condition around my local area. All told it looks like a very reasonable private sale deal.
My only reservation is that I've never purchased any used vehicle with over 100k on the clock.
I'd sure hate to see my son drop his life savings into a real money pit.

Thanks once more for the possible pitfalls of this era Fronty.
Looks like these years also suck petrol as my 05' NISMO as well ... Ugh!

Not saying it would per say, but depending on how it's been treated & such, yes they can need a rebuild after 100k, but could last as long as yours has or maybe even beyond. Depends if the miles were accumulated mainly to freeway or city, and how rough the driver was, how much towing it did, lots of factors...

Also figure your tranny is different given it's a manual. If you're still riding on your original clutch too then that's great. I think you've gone beyond the norm

I've always been told an American made transmission should last around 120K before rebuild.

Now we know the Nissans last much longer before needing rebuilding. If the owner or owners had taken care of it. Good luck!
