she smells like gas!

so more and more i've noticed my truck smelling of gas...no leaks, caps on tight. dad thinks it might be that evaporation canister or something for emissions and i might need a new one? not sure...i get whiffs when i get out of the truck, or if im sitting in traffic and a car passes by me....definitly a bitmore prominent when i first fill up. any ideas?

start at the gastank and work your way forward, on my camaro (i know i different vehical but works in this case) i was accually doing a tune up on the car (adjusting the carb) and saw a nice stream of gas shooting onto my exaust... needless to say i shat my pants and turned off the car lol.

so just start at one end and work your way to they other...

could be a loose gas line or a worn gas line and gas evaporates before it hits the ground, also check to see if the fuel filter isn't leaking, i would say also check the gas filler kneck but then it would more than likely throw a code.

so your truck smells expensive then...

seems like there may be a leak involving the exhaust system.

I have a truck. It gets me from A to B. Why I spend so much money changing it, I will never know. Is there a cure for this disease? I have no idea what I would be using all my money for if there was a cure.

there is a bulletin on this.. it is a anti-flowback valve in the filler neck. check the recalls. its there.. i had it.. and my stealership made me pay for it to be fixed.. but it was cheap...

when you get gas does the guy top it of all the way?
might wanna just check the canister. unbolt it take the valve off the front and turn it upside down to see if any fuel comes out of the canister.
sometimes topping off will push fuel into the evap system.

also look at the top of your fuel tank. they like to rot out around the sender.

This may be out there, but have you made any changes recently? A guy I work with had a Dodge pickup that did not like the Bosch +4 plugs. As soon as he put them in, he noticed a strong gas odor; I guess the computer was dumping more fuel into the cylinders for some reason. He replaced the plugs and the odor was gone.
