SC rating discrepancy 01-02 vs 03-04 models

Riddle me this Batman...

In 01 & 02, the 3.3L engines put out 170hp, while the SC increased that to 210hp. However in 03 & 04, the 3.3L was increased to 180hp while the SC still remained at 210hp.

My understanding of why the base 3.3L engine went from 170hp to 180hp was because of an exhaust manifold redesign, dunno if there's another reason. However wouldn't it stand to reason that the SC engine would also benefit from the exhaust redesign? So why isn't the SC of 03 & 04 rated at 220hp instead of 210hp?

And this also makes me wonder is it worth it to upgrade the exhaust manifold on the 03 & 04 models with headers being it's supposedly a more efficient design than the previous manifolds anyway???

well any header will e better than a factory manifold as far as flow and performance. but the numbers are perplexing...

I know the early ones..98-02 had exhaust manifold crack issues..so they redesigned them for the newer ones. I'm not sure why the supercharger doesn't push up the horsepower. It might be because on the N/A 3.3 the exhaust manifold bumps it up to 180, but on the S/C engine it can only go up to that certain point? No idea..

Hmmm You Got Me Curious But I Can Tell You For Sure They Use The Same Block From 7/00 To 10/03.
And The Rs Exh Manifold Is The Same From 9/99 Thru The End Of The 3.3l. You Cant Change Flow On One Side Of The Motor And Not The Other. So Im Ruling Out The Exshaust Manifolds Have Anything To Do With It Either.
Good One Though. Probally Nothing But Programming.

two possibilities are that one. supercharged engines need more back pressure to oppperate most effectively over n/a engines, the exhaust manifold may have only been for the regular n/a engines which were probably comlplained about being underpowered. The supercharged engine is really very differently tuned and there for upgrades for the n/a may not have been applicable for the supercharged variant or.... its a Nissan conspiracyto make us stay up until dawn trying to figure out why the numbers dont add up. take ur pick

It could just be an overlook by Nissan that was never corrected. The 03-04 may actually have 220hp, but they forgot to up the hp rating after the manifold change. Just a thought.

Actually Alpine finally figured out how to mass produce there supercharger for us NA guys. So now you can actually buy it. 4x4parts.com sells it for $3250. Kit includes Eaton M62 Supercharger, cast aluminum inlet manifold and inlet adaptor, 5 psi supercharger pulley, tensioner pulley and support plate, pre-tuned piggyback EDU for fuel/timing control and all necessary plumbing and hardware for complete installation.

um.... why doesn't everybody just put the SUPERCHARGED logo's on there trucks... I mean the majority of the extra HP comes from the stickers and decals... not the actual supercharger
