one more thing. where are you inserting the socket? infront of the intake im assuming?
yeah, i mean the length of the 5/8 socket. I had one that was a good 1/2 longer than the other

socket is 2-1/2 , swivel is 2-1/8 and extension is 9-1/2
just to give you a heads up i did this at night so dont remember all the details lol socket is 16MM i helped a guy with a BL yesterday on his 04 and it looked a lot easier to change spark plugs on his than SC so if i didnt have to remove intake on the SC , shouldnt have to on the regular engine Last edited by penski61 : 08-11-2008 at 12:56 PM. |

thanks again man. Im gonna go give er another shot. Sorry for being so needy. I just wasted my whole day saturday and a few hours yesterday. Wish me luck!!!
![]() I finally did it!!! I got # 4 out after 3 days. I attached a vaccuum tube to my shop vac and then my air compressor to clean out around the socket. Then got a rubber mallet and bashed the socket down over the plug. Here you see the after math. I broke the u joint it was so tight in the engine, then i broke the socket on my final turn!!! 3 best moments in my life are the birth of my son, the day i got married and getting this damn thing out after 3 days!!! No more missing and she runs like a beaut!!! And a big thanks to the guys that offered advise and went to the trouble to helping me. I think I will do it again now that I know I can do it. I actually pulled the other 5 out before this one again tonight to check and see how much grit was in the threads., Quite a bit. . . so I cleaned them out again and reapplied the anti seize. Thanks to mountaineer and penski61 especially!!! whew!
