Rattling loose rings under truck! What? See pic...

I noticed a rattle sound while sitting at traffic lights and I noticed two loose metal rings that rattle at low RPM's while in drive. The rings are under the truck and it appears they were holding on a cover, but I do not know to what. What is the exposed mesh cylinder in the photo?

Anyone have any idea what is going on here? Thanks,

Thats the flex pipe in your exhaust, and I imagine those were holding things together. Which means its time for a new flex pipe

Also while you are under there you may want to check your kitties. There are two cats one on each side almost directly under the drivers/riders feet. These heat shield will rust off and start to rattle too. If they have you can just remove them.

Since I have about the same truck you do (mine 2003 CC LB SE), I thought I would mention it.

If those rings are just hanging there cut them off. I'd wait till the the exhaust started to make noisy before taking it in.

Very common to see on a Nissan. Like daves d22u said just cut them off or tack weld them back in place.

I just removed the heat shield, from the cat on the drivers side, about 2 weeks ago.

I took those off over 2 years ago and no issue. I also ripped off the heat shield on the driver and passenger side cats too.

Yup, it happens to most Nissans. Just take a snips, cut em off, through em away and enjoy the peace and quiet.
